jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Nov 22, 2006 Bottle. Sweet, oaky aroma. Oakiness blends nicely w/ the flavor of this brew. Tobacco, spice, dark fruit, and alcohol burn all prevalent. Reminds me of Iron Hill Oak Aged Quad. Very good pre-Thanksgiving brew. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Nov 13, 2006 Courtesy boboski. Multi dark brown with a frothy, off white cap. Smoke, earth, grainy and rich malt, subtle vinous notes, and a very subtle warmth. Full, balanced palate. Excellent. Unexpected. Another bottle courtesy of Shadey in the fridge. I’m hyped. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Oct 16, 2006 Shared by OhioDad at the Columbus tasting. This one poured a nice brown color with a tan head. The aroma was full of oak and syrup. A nice mouthfeel as well. The taste was very much of a barrel aged brew with a hint of warmth and a yeasty flavor in the end. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Oct 10, 2006 750ml bottled Feb 2005 - thanks jjpm74 - Aroma of cabernet sauvignon, alcohol, cherry, dark malt, yeast, and lots of oak. Pours transparent deep ruby red with a small head and decent lacing. Flavor smacks you in the face with an oak 2X4. Still some red wine, alcohol, and dark fruit in there, but smashed by oak. Palate is chalky, tart, and dry. A ton of oak hides much of the nuances this brew might have had, but tasty none the less. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 5, 2006 From the Columbus tasting, shared by Ohiodad! Reddish-brown pour, brief tan head. Spicy aroma...a good bit of vanilla and oak. The flavor had some bourbon notes along with some yeast and spice elements. Nice carbonation over the palate. bgburdman9 (822), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 19, 2006 Poured a dark clear brown color with a light brown head. Very oaky aroma with a little malt and light sourness. Also a little sweetness and a little alcohol burn. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Sep 15, 2006 Fuck yeah, John hooked it up with this one. A beer I have been seeking for quite a while. Dark brown color without much of a head. Smell is oak, yeast, and some alchol. Taste is rich, sweet, wood and spicy yeast that comes with every Allagash beer. This is one killer beer, and this one is up there with interlude as their best beer. It does not, surpass interlude though, but its damn good. I really hope this is released again (i hear it could be??) if not, John you gotta send me another bottle for my cellar!! sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 13, 2006 Bottle: Columbus tasting shared by ohiodad. Mahogany colored pour with a small tan head. Aroma, oaky, sweet malts, and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is very woody, some whiskey notes to it. Very good stuff.
