Aroma is caramel, dark fruit, toasty grains, a hint of chocolate, some roast, sweet oak notes, toffee, oak and just a hint of smoke. Flavor is caramel, sweet wheat bread, toasted grains, a little dry orange peel, mild chocolate, espresso, some nice, soft smokey notes, a perfectly mild earthy oak note, vanilla, sweet bread crust, Finish is dark fruit, grilled peaches, smoke, burnt sugar and mellow oak. Palate is medium body, slightly slick with a dry finish and a good carbonation level. This is a fantastic brew, the oak is very subtle and the whole brew is very well balanced. Dated Oct. 2006. Pours a deep orange-ruby with an average size diminishing frothy beige head. Nice aroma of dark fruit, smoky bacon, oak, toasted malt, brown sugar and more. Flavour’s malty and fruity along with oak, alcohol and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Pours murky dark brown, with a thin off white head. Aroma of dark fruit, oak, and some alcohol. Flavor follows suit; its heavy on dark fruit, with notes of earth, oak, and caramel. Alcohol is fairly noticeable in the finish. Another great barrel aged offering from Allagash!

Interesting beer, murky and without much head. Tons of barrel character, complex with plenty of vanilla oak. Earthy, tobacco, caramel, like a barrel-aged scotch ale. One of the more impressive Allagash that I’ve ever tasted. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Apr 2, 2009 Draft at Capones. Wow great stuff. Dark brown pour with a small off white foamy head. Floral aroma with notes of wheat, chocolate and lactose notes. Flavor of wheat, chocolate and sour milk. Not sure why I was getting lots of milk notes on this one but oh well I liked it a lot anyway.
