Commercial Description:
Late this year we plan to release a second beer in the Barrel Aged series... a dark, 10% wheat beer. We have been aging a portion of the beer in New American Medium Toast Oak, and a portion in Stainless steel. We will then blend the beers to taste, and bottle condition. The beer will have spent over 6 months aging in the oak and steel at the brewery!

Draft at Capones. Wow great stuff. Dark brown pour with a small off white foamy head. Floral aroma with notes of wheat, chocolate and lactose notes. Flavor of wheat, chocolate and sour milk. Not sure why I was getting lots of milk notes on this one but oh well I liked it a lot anyway.

Aroma kicked out notes of fig with a good portion of higher alcohols. oak is noticeable. pours deep mostly transparent brown with a tan head that is big but dissipates to a thin foam leaving a little lacing. Flavor was big on figs, with subtle spiciness, peppery alcohol, vanilla, and oak. medium on the palate. bit of astringency and tannin. An alright beer, a little to tannic and did not of have the harmony of better belgian ales

Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights. Thin light tan head. The nose has some soy character, dark wheat shows for sure, some grain, oak, mild sweetness, yeasty. The flavor is oaky, tannic, soy sauce, dark wheat comes through, a bit grainy, mildly yeasty. Not a fan of the flavor. Tannic on the palate with mild carbonation. Let down on this one.

Bottled January 2008. Poured a dark brown color with garnet light shining through. The head was tan. Smelled of clove and subdued brown sugar with whiffs of alcohol and fig. Medium to full bodied and delicately sweet. The body was perhaps lightened somewhat by the alcohol. The flavor consisted mostly of spices and dark fruits (clove, fig, raisin) with a distinct alcohol note. Pretty good.

Bottle compliments of GeneralGao. Pours a deep brown with a small head some good oakiness and subtle sweet roastiness in the aroma. Flavor is mildly sweet and the alcohol is very present but not in an unpleasant way at all. Flavors of raisins and a little whisky shine through the most with a little bit of spiciness going on in the background. Very well balanced.

Bottle (750ml - corked and caged). Shared with blankboy, biegaman and garthicus. Deep hazy ruby pour, average creamy tan head. Sweet oak resin aroma, tons of tart fruit, raisins, light woodsmoke, almost burnt caramel malt, alcohol - mmmmm. Lightly acidic mouthfeel, increasing warmth through the sweet resiny finish. Fruckin delicious.

Thanks to HogTownHarry! Appearance: Dark cherry brown with a small light brown colour head. Aroma: Honey, wood, yeast, winter fruits, smoke. Flavour: Woody, honey, nice amount of honey and clover, alcohol is pretty well blended and almost port like. Very enjoyable. Bottled Oct 06.
