COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Late this year we plan to release a second beer in the Barrel Aged series... a dark, 10% wheat beer. We have been aging a portion of the beer in New American Medium Toast Oak, and a portion in Stainless steel. We will then blend the beers to taste, and bottle condition. The beer will have spent over 6 months aging in the oak and steel at the brewery!

2011-02-20. Dark brown body with a modest foamy tan head. 3+ Modest aroma, lightly tangy fruit character, mild alcohols and sweet malt. 7+ Flavour has a mild malty base with fruity accents and muted woody notes. Fruit character lingers in the finish. Smooth average palate. Enjoyable but on the mild side. Perhaps it has mellowed with a year in the bottle but this is surprisingly mild for a beer of this strength! Bottled January 2010, via trade with Fred82

(beer tasting @ Monty’s Krown - Rochester, NY: bottle - corked & caged 750 ml) Can’t recall the vintage. Deep reddish color with a thick and fluffy off-white head. Bourbon in the nose along with oak, vanilla and dark fruits. Flavor starts off dark and fruity with a nice oak and vanilla bourbon middle. Finishes slightly tart and with the lightest bitter hint on the aftertaste.

750 ml bottle. 2009 Vintage. Nose of oak and wheat. Thin head that produced great lacing that stayed until the end. Taste is a oak wood upfront (Cedar taste, if you could eat wood) Has a wheat base. Finish is a light toffee or vanilla ester in the mixture of complex ingredients. A fine aged brew that was balanced perfectly.

Co-rate! Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad barrel event. Brown color. Aroma of Hershey bar and earth. Taste is dirty caramel. Next to Avance, this was tame.

Clear mahogany, off white head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon, tannic vinous character. Flavor again bourbon, warming alcohol, vanilla, warming alcohol. Oily smooth mouthfeel.

Sampled at the Brewvival 1. Near clear brown pour with no head. Sweet caramel, and a little burnt, scotch and nuttiness. Kinda boring actually. Or maybe my palate had already been blown out. I don’t know what it was particularly, but I didn’t really care for this one too much.

Sampled from a bottle at Mondial de la bière. Dark hazy copper with a film of beige head. There is the scent of orange in the nose, along with a little spice. And maybe a vegetal note, although that may just be my nose malfunctioning. In the flavour there is lotsa yeast, sweet vanilla/oak, and spice at the end. Medium-full body, medium-low carbonation. Pretty good, overall.
