COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Late this year we plan to release a second beer in the Barrel Aged series... a dark, 10% wheat beer. We have been aging a portion of the beer in New American Medium Toast Oak, and a portion in Stainless steel. We will then blend the beers to taste, and bottle condition. The beer will have spent over 6 months aging in the oak and steel at the brewery!

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2006 Original Rating (6-2-6-2-12=2.8): Rum-like boozy alcohol and hazelnuts overwhelm the aroma with some oakiness and sweetness. Dark mahogany brown with thin but lasting ring of tan head. Hazelnut and rum also in the flavour with strong sticky sweetness. Smooth with medium body but low carbonation leaves this one feeling very still and lazy in the mouth and the texture is not enough to make it enjoyable. Sampled at the Extreme Beer Festival 2005.
Rerate (7-3-6-4-12=3.2): Charred wood is strong in the aroma with strong, sour cherries and definite alcohol apparent. Opaque dark brown body is topped by a low but lasting off white head. Strong barrel-aged flavour has blended somewhat with malt sweetness and strong fruitiness. Raisins, dates, figs and plums are still overwhelmed by the barrel. I think this just spent too long in the wood and isn’t going to mellow. Medium body is quite dry with lively carbonation and mild alcohol warming. Bottle (Feb. 2005) sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Siroy.

Deep reddish beer with a beige head. Malty, dark fruit sweet aroma with a spicy, almost medicinal touch. Malty flavor with a wood and whisky note, and a light alcohol finish.

750mL bottle, Fed 2005 vintage. Murky red-orange brown with a small tan head. Alefruit, prunes, raisins, and biscuit in the aroma. Heavy alcohol presence, with dark fruit flavors and heavy tannic characters. Raisin and alcohol finish. Mouthfeel is medium heavy, thick and hot.

Sampled at the Brewvival 1. Near clear brown pour with no head. Sweet caramel, and a little burnt, scotch and nuttiness. Kinda boring actually. Or maybe my palate had already been blown out. I don’t know what it was particularly, but I didn’t really care for this one too much.

Brown with a small off-white head. Dark dried fruit and malt in the nose. Sweet and malty flavour with toffee notes. Alcohol noticed. Too boring for a 10% beer.

On tap at rattle n hum. Not too heavy, a brown ale type feel. Some chocolate decent. Allagash is overrated.

Pours a dark brown color. Aroma is smoky, malty with bacon. Flavor is smoky, lots of malt and more bacon. I cant get beyond the bacon. Other woody and bourbon notes as well.

Bread crust, cherries, subtle coffee nose. Clear chestnut, medium yellow head, good lacing. Full bodied, cherry flavor with a touch of whiskey. Not for me, too boozy.

FOBAB 2009- pours a dark brown with a small beige head. notes of dirt, must, cobwebs, bread. not too great. some plastic and feces notes as well. underwealming. Booze was well hidden though, didn’t seem like 10.4% abv.
