COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Late this year we plan to release a second beer in the Barrel Aged series... a dark, 10% wheat beer. We have been aging a portion of the beer in New American Medium Toast Oak, and a portion in Stainless steel. We will then blend the beers to taste, and bottle condition. The beer will have spent over 6 months aging in the oak and steel at the brewery!

750 ml corked an caged bottle. Bottled February 2005. Deep dark ruby tinged brown body. The tan head is fizzy, collapses quickly, and rather uninspired looking. The aroma is loaded with oak (light to medium toast) vanilla, sweet apple, some light bourbon (which is odd since it is aged in new barrels. maybe some of the Curieux spilled into it. =) ). Further aromas include toasty malt and light dusty yeast. The alcohol (other than the sweet bourbon tones) is fairly subdued in the nose. The flavor is interesting. Its hard to pin down as the wheat notes really mix things up. The oak is here in spades but some bitter cocoa and bourbon. The flavor is not as nice as the aroma and the bourbon is again strong. I guess I expected less bourbon with the virgin barrel since wines aged in this manner do not taste like bourbon. Dry fizzy palate. Light to medium alcohol warmth on the journey down the gullet. Not bad, not great.

December 2011 bottling. Aroma has some burnt sugar character with strong alcohol note, raisins, leather too. Copper to dark mahogany in color. Super creamy head that never disappears. Taste is sweet again with strong alcohol character. Slightly tannic, not really getting the oak. Definitely has a sherry character. Very long finish, warm. Creamy mouthfeel. Enjoyable beer. Would love to taste some straight from the steel tanks so i could appreciate better what the oak adds.

08 Vintage. Brown/black, mahogany edges. Aroma of dark fruit, earthy bitterness, tobacco, some licorice and soy. Taste is nice and mellow, lots of sweetness, some woody bitterness. Very smooth texture, soft carbonation.

(750ml bottle vintage July 2009) clearish medium brown pour with light bubbles. Nose of grape jelly, lightly vinous, sweet Belgian dark candi sugar, bits of cocoa, smells super complex. Taste of concorde grapes, belgian candi sugar, not super spicy. tends more towards the sweet, juicy dark fruits, naturally carbonated, a nice beer!

Draft at Mugs Alehouse. Aroma of rich toasted Oak, Toasted Oak on the palate but not too overbearing, Slight Vanilla, caramel and spice, carbonation is lively and makes for a great mouth feel. Well balanced for such a strong beer.

3/6/12. 750mL bottle shared by Larry! Hazy brown pour with a small tan head that fades but laces plenty. Slightly fruity, phenolic aroma with a surprising chocolate and roast kick. Sweet banana flavors with another big chocolate and roast kick, on top of touches of vanilla. Nice!

Bottle pours a clear red/brown with a small, fizzy, off white head. Scent is caramel, wood and booze. Taste is sweet and lightly bitter with wood. Nice

Pour is a mahogany color with a finger thick white head. Nose is of roasted... something. Taste is similar, dominated by the aging notes more than anything, some light vanilla and some strong oak notes.
