3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12.7 ml bottle from jammalamma. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor are tart cherries, additional fruit character, wood, some light funk. I thought everything was there, just looking for a bit more pop.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle via some Cates @ DSM LOL 1st edition 06/13/13
Pours a bright orang with a small wispy lil head.
The aroma is tart cherry, generally pretty fruity with some orange rind and some barnyardy funk. The beer has sort of a woody character, even thought it seems as though it was not aged in woooooooood.
The flavor is nicely sour, very tart, and full of tart cherry flavor. Itís earthy, never crosses over into vinegary sourness and has some nice almost musty character to it.

Bottle. Pours orange/amber with medium beige head. Aroma is sweet, cherry, and just the right amount of funk. A little fizzy, cherry, medium tart, with some woody funk. Real good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle very generously shared by Gene. Thanks! Cork came out like it was shot out of a gun. Hazy orange pour with a small white head. Aroma of cherry, lemon, grass, and oak. Slight malt sweetness, some must, and a hint of funk. The flavor is quite fruit forward. Good cherry flavor, some sweet malt, oak, and vanilla. Grass, lemon, and a moderate tartness. A hint of vinegar, minimal funk, and a dry finish.

375ml corked bottle shared by Madvike. Hazy/murky orange-red. Big off-white head, lasts. Mineral cherry pit aroma. Delicate malt background, pleasant cherry flavor, light sour edge very well incorporated. Really natural taste, quite delicious and clean. Tasty, well executed, a medium bodied Kriek that avoids being cloying.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Purchased at the Allagash brewery in Portland, ME; enjoyed at my hotel room after an awesome Acadia hiking day in Bar Harbor, ME. Bottled November 2011. Appearance is a very cloudy dark gold with a light red hue, very bubbly carbonation that quickly dissipates like soda. Aroma of light cherries, light funk, in all honesty not much else. Taste is good but not very sour. Has a high bubbly carbonation, goes down like seltzer water, very light cherry flavor. Itís not a bad brew, just not high on my radar of other Allagash brews that Iíve had.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
10 ounce pour - $6.00 at Leonís Full Service in Decatur, Georgia as part of their Allagash Takeover event.
Appearance: Hazed, amber-esque body with a smallish, ivory-hued head fed by little streams of bubbles.
Smell: A moderate aroma of tartish whole cherries forward of the faintly sweet-scented, toasty malts and thin wafts of phenols.
Taste: Tastes of, well, cherries, as one might imagine. Some toasted bread and muddled caramel maltiness. Lightly sweet, lightly spicy. Brightly tart and with modest lactic touches popping up here and there. Drying, well-carbonated finish with lingering tart cherries accents.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: Old HLT is a likable cherry brew. I was going to liken it to a more lively carbonated Quelque Chose, but, itís been nearly eight long years since I last had it, and, with all the many brain cells Iíve outright killed since then, perhaps I should leave the comparison alone.

Sour cherry is the name of the game here. Full bodied and a big sour flavor. On tap at the brickstore. Rivals some of the more established sours. The finish is a little off but the flavors, body and texture come in nicely.
