Allagash Saison is our interpretation of a classic Belgian farmhouse style. It is a golden hued beer, brewed with a 2-Row blend, malted rye, oats and dark Belgian candi sugar. It was hopped with Tettnang, Bravo and Cascade hops. Fermented with a traditional saison yeast strain, this beer exhibits notes of spice and tropical fruit in the aroma. Citrus and a peppery spice dominate the flavor and make way for a pleasant malt character. Saison is full bodied with a remarkably dry finish.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2014 Orange like citrus and pepper on the nose. Hazy yellow appearance with a fluffy whit head. Flavor has citrus notes upfront with a lot of pepper phenols. Slightly acidic per style. Mouthfeel is medium body with a med-high level of carbonation. Overall, it’s an ok saison. . . ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Similar in nose in taste. Lots of rye, lots of earth, a big of funkiness. Some fruit, of the tropical variety. Takes a bit to get used to it, then it grows on you. Nice. Dry finish.

355 ml purchase at the Craft Beer Cellar in Waterbury (VT) on August 19, 2014. Golden yellow, small head. Aroma of sweet rye and wheat, nice spiciness. Very dry cereal taste, some spicy sweetness, some light bitterness. Nice, simple saison!

Bottle shared in CT. Pours hazy yellow-gold, with a creamy white head. The nose has some Belgian yeast, lemon zest, mild doughy wheat. Light-medium sweet flavor with some wheat biscuits, straw, some lemony tang, hay. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Crisp finish with pale wheat sweetness, light bitter straw, more yeast, zesty citrus. Well balanced. Solid.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvikar. Cloudy blond with white head. A little peach yogurt and floral aroma, tastes a little sour yet fruity and sweet. Medium-bodied and fruity finish.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light gold with a 3 finger foamy white head. Lots of bubbles. Aroma is rather complex. Citrus, spice, earth. Maybe more. Med body, nearly. Flavor is very clean, very citrus. But there’s a lot of earth/spice/yeast coming along. It’s almost tangy. Extremely enjoyable.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4918) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 2, 2014
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright yellow color with a huge creamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was lemon, egg white, must, yeast and was fairly tart. The flavor was tart and bitter lemon, cracker, yeast, must and perfumey hops. Turns dry on the long finish of perfume and lemon. Medium body. Meh.

stable long lasting bubbly head, hazy pale yellow colour, aroma of saison yeast, tea leavs, mint and some spicy and vinegar hint, yeasty flavour with efervescent herbal tea and some malt in the back, light but quite noticable fruity funky sourness, light mellow bitterness, quite silky. Classic saison, highly enjoyable.

Bottle from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atlanta Highway). Light yeasty nose, with peach and some deeper fruit notes. Very hazy medium straw color, with a big fluffy head. Nice moderate fruit burst: peach, maybe mango, and something darker. Very good bittering in mid and final. Thin-medium body. Nice, deep flavors. Very fresh nose.

Exactly what a saison should taste like. Peppery, Belgian yeast/farmhouse funk, lemon zest, tingles on the tongue, hazy golden yellow.
