COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Allagash Saison is our interpretation of a classic Belgian farmhouse style. It is a golden hued beer, brewed with a 2-Row blend, malted rye, oats and dark Belgian candi sugar. It was hopped with Tettnang, Bravo and Cascade hops. Fermented with a traditional saison yeast strain, this beer exhibits notes of spice and tropical fruit in the aroma. Citrus and a peppery spice dominate the flavor and make way for a pleasant malt character. Saison is full bodied with a remarkably dry finish.

Tart and citrusy brew showing off a fair bit of spices and some tropical fruits. Quite refreshing, but the tartness lingers a bit too long.

Bottle purchased at Consumers Beverage, 10-14. Pours clear gold with a tight white head that fades over time. Nose is pepper, lemon, clay, white peach, unripe fruits, a hint of honey. Flavor is white peach, pepper, unidentifiable spice - not clove, not cinnamon, but something fleetingly warm - along with muted lemon, some cork/earth. Refreshing bitter finish w. pepper, fleeting honey and suggestions of a very bright variety of thyme. High, aggressive carbonation.

(Rating #5875)

Really nice. Pepper, dry, clove. Full flavor. Not really fruity but some trace sweetness. Very well balanced.

Very fruity saison. Lemony orange peel and other fresh citrus aroma. More citrus on the palate along with a forward floral hop and bitter presence. Nicely peppery spiciness. Appearance is golden with an orange tint. Fine bubbles give a light and effervescent impression. Pretty white lace left on the glass. For me, this is a very nice example of the style. Perfect for a summer thirst quencher and to pair with some Belgian fries and mussels.
