Allagash Saison is our interpretation of a classic Belgian farmhouse style. It is a golden hued beer, brewed with a 2-Row blend, malted rye, oats and dark Belgian candi sugar. It was hopped with Tettnang, Bravo and Cascade hops. Fermented with a traditional saison yeast strain, this beer exhibits notes of spice and tropical fruit in the aroma. Citrus and a peppery spice dominate the flavor and make way for a pleasant malt character. Saison is full bodied with a remarkably dry finish.

Grass, spicy yeast flavor, some fruitiness, maybe pineapple. Finish is citrus hops. This is quite good.

Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle. I hadn’t ticked this yet for some reason. 12oz bottle from Plumpjack Noe. The appearance almost makes you crap your pants. It’s a brilliant golden-yellow color and has a lacy white head that keeps getting replenished by bubbles. Oh the bubbles! Freaking life-changing stuff. The aroma is tasty as hell. Citrus, pineapple, Belgian yeast, and spicy rye and hops. The flavor is tasty as hell. Really dry, and almost gets wetter as it dries like a towel. Nice subtle rye note and a dry, bitter finish. Classic Allagash yeast, for which I’m a sucker. They crushed the mouthfeel. Oh so dry despite being a liquid, with prickly bubbles assaulting your tongue. Allagash, you do Belgiums so good. How do you do it? I don’t know, but I like Belgiums and I will keep drinking them. Thanks and kindly do the needful.

Poured into a Belgian ale glass. Pale, yeasty yellow brew, pretty decent light ale with some yeast and spiciness with a bit of hop bitterness thrown in. Not too familiar with this style yet, but my impression is that this one is a bit unusual due to the hops. OK summer beer, though.

Complex but not weird. Rich in flavors and very well equilibrated. I’m not the bestr friend od saison style buti’ll make an exception with this Allagash.

Hazy pour with a thin offwhite head. Aroma is yeasty, peppery, and slightly bready. Very classical. Flavor is mild bread, a flutter of lemon, some nice grain notes and more peppery yeast character. A very dry finish rounds this out as a pretty damn good saison. Very nice.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a light hazy yellow color with a big one finger white foamy head that dissipated to some bubbles and had a messy lacing. The smell had a decent rustic to earthy yeasty breadiness with a refreshing blend of sweet citrus and a light coriander spice. The taste copied the smell and carried a nice lingering sweet bready aftertaste leading to a sweet wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a great sessionability about it. The carbonation was good for me and for the style. Refreshing lemon coated yeastiness flows over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good saison I’d have again.

Pours a light hazy yellow with a long lasting white head that leaves lacing. The nose is slight citrus with some malt. Body is light. Taste is the closest of the three saisons tasted today to Dupont. 12 oz bottle
