Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA Mar 15, 2008 Great aroma - fruits, belgian yeast, honey. Loved the great interplay of the spicy flavors with subdued and controlled malty sweetness. Good. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Mar 8, 2008 Very nice... as noted by several raters, it’s not as sweet as you would expect from a tripel, but for me that’s a plus. Pours a hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma is of tropical fruits with the typical yeasty bite. Flavor is a dry chardonnay-like fruitiness. This is complimented by the yeastiness... great american version of a belgian style. bhensonb (4189), Woodland, California, USA Mar 4, 2008 750 ml bottle. The aroma is light stone fruit accompanied by sour. Hazy golden color with a lacing off-white head. Full bodied with creamy/chewy carbonation. Flavors are multiple. Bready malt, citrus, coriander, banana, other kinds of fruits. It is not sweet. It seems dry. It seems bitter. It seems to be a really good drink. The finish is clean and refreshing - weird to say that about a tripel. My mouth is puckering. It is a really good drink. Not that standard off-sweet tripel. Repeat: Good. jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 4, 2008 On tap at Jerry’s. Pale yellow-orange with good, off-white head / Estery, sour malt nose / Light to medium, lush body with good malts and long, sweet, dry finish / Flavors of banana, passion fruit, and coriander, and honey / Delicious. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 1, 2008 Bottle (Batch 42): Pours a hazy gold with a white head, nice lacing. Aroma, peppery, yeast, bready malts, and some other spices. Flavor, doughy, spices, yeast, some light fruits, and floral notes. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Feb 29, 2008 Pours a cloudy light gold color with a medium pearly white head. Smells of banana, orange citrus, coriander and other spices. Great nose. The flavor has a great spice character to it, alot of orange citrus and coriander, maybe some clove. Well balanced with nice masking of the alcohol. One of the better tripels Ive ever had. a nice rendition of a usually boring style. Fantastic! rodgers004 (26), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA Feb 27, 2008 Big white head on a beautiful golden pour. Bold, penetrant, taste, from this great triple. Well balanced with subtle undertones. One of the best tripels I’ve had. lmoss (3), USA does not count Feb 26, 2008 On tap -- Light golden body, slight haze, terrific lacing from top to bottom.
Somewhat unexciting aroma of spices, fruits, yeast. Nothing mindblowing.
Initial mouthfeel is moderately carbonated. Taste is heavy citrusy fruits (orange, lemon), spices, initially malty, but a dry hoppy finish. I’m not tasting much of the 9%, either. Very drinkable.
