AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jan 9, 2008 Batch # 54. Cloudy lemon yellow hue with a 2 finger white head with tan colored specks suspended. Spicy, peppery smell with a whiff of alcohol. Medium bodied with a prickly, highly carbonated mouthfeel.
Earthy, woody, spicy grain flavor here; pretty complex with a hint of black pepper, lemon and other fruits. Has a soft alcohol taste to finish.
Not overly sweet like some triples, my favorite of all the domestic brands I’ve tasted so far.2005
TopherDrinks (96), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Jan 8, 2008 Batch # 58 (Aged). Pours a barely translucent golden yellow with a great pure white head. Immediate explosion of spiced fruit esters fill the room. Tropical fruits, cherry, banana yeast, orange peel, clove, candied sugars and super sweet candy malt all hit the nose. First taste is super spiced and super sweet malt with tropical fruits lingering on the palate. Great yeast quality with some pineapple, green apple, clove, cherry, banana, more sweet malt, and alcohol warming. Smooth as can be and full bodied with a slight bitter edge on the finish. I now have a warm stomach and spicy breath, couldn’t have asked for better aging. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Jan 7, 2008 Batch #94. Barely translucent carmel in color. The nose shows off wonderful spices along with orange pulp, carmel, nuts and citrus. These flavors continued into a smooth and balanced beer with a finish that lingers with some bitnerness. webjedi (249), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA Jan 5, 2008 Batch #84. Damn pleasant beer. I really can’t fault Rob on his brewing, and Allagash is starting to be my favorite American brewer. Beautiful color, pours with the perfect small bubbled head, 3-4 cm cream-white head. You can taste a sweet cherry-like yeast, and little pear on the nose. Apple/Pear on the tongue, just the right balance of sweet and fizz, and a little tang on the back of the throat. Easily one of the best American beers of the last 5 years. (Bottle Pour 1/2/2007) holdenn (1432), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 4, 2008 Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Citrus and grain nose. Not very distinct. Citrus, pear, really fruity. Earthy, tangy, alcohol. Hop presence. Finishes dry with the alcohol and earthy notes. Ok. dkachur (2318), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jan 1, 2008 Updated: Mar 14, 2008Bottle. Pours cloudy straw colored w/ voluminous foamy head. Sour, yeasty aroma. Taste is very smooth and fruity, reminiscent of green apple. briant413 (3), Massachusetts, USA does not count Jan 1, 2008 a truly amazing tasting beer have no complaints other then pour it slowly theres alot of head that come with this beer.
