Allagash Tripel Reserve

Very similar to DFH midas touch without as much wine character. I really love the creamy almost mead like honey deliciousness. A very awesome brew indeed that wins me over despite my usual preference for dark beers.

Super dope beer. Everything I expect from a Tripel. Solid. I definitely recommend this beer.

The more I have of Allagash the more I think they may be the best brewery in America. Pours clear golden / amber with a very large whitish head with very good retention. The aroma has lots of Belgium yeast, light spice, moderate sweetness, white grapes and white pepper ~ excellent. Medium body that is a bit thinner and more crisp than normal for the style. There is a bit of slickness and lots of sharp stinging carbonation. The taste starts with lots of peppery spice with some grapes and lots of thick earthy malt with very minimal sweetness for the style. The finish has some of the earthy Belgium yeast and a bit of sourness with along with some spicy hops. Big thumbs up for this world class tripel that sure doesn’t taste like it was brewed in Maine.

Overrated a bit? Another bottle shared with Hapjy - we were already a bit tipsy so I’m sure this wasn’t enjoyed to it’s fullest potential. Nevertheless, I don’t recall being too excited about this brew. Too light and soft on my palate! one and done.!

I felt that this beer was a little over-rated upon trying it, not bad though. I appreciated the aroma more than its other characteristics. Definitely light fruits, some ammonia, lemon and sweet banana. Good yeasty finish, but didn’t finish like a good Belgian-style. Stingy on the palate, with some spice that is not well-balanced with the dry alcohol finished. This is what turned me off. The initial flavor is nice, but the unsubtle finish was not something I was looking forward to after each sip.

On tap at Blind Tiger. Not as good as I was hoping. Aroma of clove, garlic, yeast. Flavor is strong, tropical fruity esters, yeast, bread, yogurt. Lively with candy apple finish. No head, cloudy mustard pour. This was much fruitier and not as dry as I like my tripels.

Aroma: soapy, mellow, sourish in an almost lambiclike way...
malty & sweet below the surface, slightly funky. Some hops & lemonpeel, fried banana & cardamom.
Appearance: pale, cold yellow w/ white head, slightly dim. Nothing special.
Flavour: initial sourishness, almost meaty , bittersweet...raisinlike, full-bodied, yeasty... mmm, sourish caramel.
Palate: wonderful! Powerful & champagnelike.

Pours a clear orange blonde with a modest head. Aroma is of fruit, caramel, grass, pepper and alcohol. Flavor has residual caramel, yeasty notes,honey, and phenolic spice. Moderate hop bitterness. Nice and dry with a tart finish.
