Yeasty honey; lemon and sourdough bread. Bubbly with a full mouth feel. Heavy for a tripel. Apricots, pepper and lemon zest. Undertones of banana and melon. Dry, clenching finish. Oily on the palate. Grows on you but still a chore to finish solo. cheapdark (2015), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA

Allagash XXX , I’ve been waiting to taste this. This beer pours hazy pale yellow but there are no precipitants within. Has a nice white creamy head but it also has some medium and larger bubbles that prompts an uneven foam. The aroma is mild, slightly sweet and lacking of the typical beery yeast aroma so common in today’s beers. Oooh, the initial flavor impact is quite strong, but not as strong as the 9% would indicate. Alky bitter on the beginning and alky bitter to the palate. The alky content is certainly prevalent in this brew. Nice lacing on the sides of the glass as you drink. Tho this is above average bitterness, it is not quite as oppressive in the alky as that Southern Tier trippel I recently had. Southern tier is much less refined than this brew, the Allagash lacks the in your face characteristic. The finish is medium high bitterness that can not be appreciated by my lager loving girlie taste buds. It reminds a little of bitter cough medicine. This brew does not stand a chance against white Chimay or Grimbergen Blonde. Slightly below par when compared to Victory Golden monkey as far as enjoyablity goes. I’m not a real fan of trippels but since I have been spoiled by Chimay and Grimbergen, I now expect more from this style. robinvboyer (1428), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Pours hazy golden with a good head although the bubbles are a bit big and disapated quickly. Aromas of tangerines, fruit, pilsner malt and alcohol. The flavor is of candy coated pilsner malt, little to no hop aroma or flavor, not enough hops to balance the sweet sticky malt. Finishes malty sweet with not enough dryness on the finish, a bit cloying, not much else going on here, I did’nt even finish it to be honest. Expected more from Allagash. Very dry with a citrus flavor but still pulls off a sweet body. VeloVampire (488), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2007 750 ml bottle, batch 83, shared with StompBrockmore (his bottle) - pours a bright opaque honey colour, with the typical Belgian rocky head. Awesome aroma packed with light citrus fruits, cardamom, yeast and some banana. Nicely sweet as well. Remarkably light in the mouth, and wonderfully balanced flavours of yeast, honey, passionfruit and some spice as well. Delectable. Lengthy, complex finish. 9% abv, but you’d NEVER guess it. Great stuff. rmussman (905), California, USA

Appearnace is light brown with a thin lacey head that lasts. Mouthfeel is carbinated with a smooth aftertaste. Flavor is excellent. Mild hops and malt are complemented with a hint of fruit and currants. A very nice brew. Oh by the way, i was part of batch #82.
