buerckholtz (33), asheville, North Carolina, USA Mar 5, 2007 Pours hazy golden with a good head although the bubbles are a bit big and disapated quickly. Aromas of tangerines, fruit, pilsner malt and alcohol. The flavor is of candy coated pilsner malt, little to no hop aroma or flavor, not enough hops to balance the sweet sticky malt. Finishes malty sweet with not enough dryness on the finish, a bit cloying, not much else going on here, I did’nt even finish it to be honest. Expected more from Allagash. MrRain (415), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Mar 4, 2007 Batch 87. 750ml in a trappist glass. Pours cloudy with a great white head. Strong lemon aroma. Very dry with a citrus flavor but still pulls off a sweet body. VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 1, 2007 750 ml bottle, batch 83, shared with StompBrockmore (his bottle) - pours a bright opaque honey colour, with the typical Belgian rocky head. Awesome aroma packed with light citrus fruits, cardamom, yeast and some banana. Nicely sweet as well. Remarkably light in the mouth, and wonderfully balanced flavours of yeast, honey, passionfruit and some spice as well. Delectable. Lengthy, complex finish. 9% abv, but you’d NEVER guess it. Great stuff. rmussman (905), California, USA Mar 1, 2007 A excellent beer. Aroma is a little sour with mild hops and lots of malt. Appearnace is light brown with a thin lacey head that lasts. Mouthfeel is carbinated with a smooth aftertaste. Flavor is excellent. Mild hops and malt are complemented with a hint of fruit and currants. A very nice brew. Oh by the way, i was part of batch #82. StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 1, 2007 750ml bottle, batch 83, shared with VeloVampire - pours vibrant, cloudy golden with a big rocky head on top. Light, fruity, citrusy, yeasty aroma that gives away not even a trace of alcohol. Flavour is full of banana, orange, and other citrus, along with bread, honey and Belgian candi sugar. Very light and delicate flavour. Not as robust as other Tripels, but that is not a fault here, and the finish is beautifully long and complex. It’s remarkable to me how light this is considering the high ABV, which reveals itself at no time. An extremely nice, American brewed Belgian ale. Hippystomper (35), Narragansett, Rhode Island, USA Feb 28, 2007 Best beer I’ve had in a while. Light and aromatic and manages to cover the high alcohol very well. I would drink this all the time if it were more inexpensive and accesible. Amazing. Dsnutz (71), dallas, Texas, USA Feb 24, 2007 750ml bottle pours a cloudy copper color, with a thick tan head, and descent lacing. Overall I was a little disappointed, with a 98 score, I was expecting more. A quality brew.
Batch #86 ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Feb 21, 2007 Hazey pale body with a large, beige head. The aroma is banana, clove, candi sugar and golden raisins. The flavor is bread, candi, honey, light banana and raisins with light sweetness. Medium body with moderate carbonation, slightly prickly, dense with just a touch of chalkiness on the finish. Excellent American brewed Belgian.
