sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Nov 28, 2006 Batch 77 bottle. Cloudy yellow/orange with a frothy off-white head leaving spots of lacing. Tart yeasty bread aroma with spice, banana, flowers, and citrus. Bittersweet cakey malt flavor with a lot of orange peel, coriander and pear notes throughout. Warm bitterness on the finish. Some dusty black pepper in the aftertaste. Mostly smooth palate with slight carbonation. Very good, probably the best American tripel out there. JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Nov 27, 2006 Batch 81. Pours a clear gold with fizy white head. Aroma of citrus, spice, orange, and sweet malt. Flavors of spice, banana, orange, some grass and peppery notes, and a bit of hops. I enjoyed the four much more. dmradus (225), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 23, 2006 Batch 85. Pours straw-gold with one-inch white head that fades to a cap and laces heavily. Opaque, large amount of yeast. In the nose: lemon, coriander, orange peel, slight peppery spice. Taste: pronounced malt sweetness, heavily spiced, small amount of citrus, some honey as advertised, finishes indistinct, slightly bitter. On the tongue, well-rounded, high carbonation but thick. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Nov 23, 2006 750 ml bottle from Thiachilie. Batch 78. Really a wonderful beer. Pale gold with a beautiful snow white head. Loads of lace. Pretty complex aroma. Citrus, spice, dish soap, pepper. Pretty much all of that in the flavor as well, along with a nice candi sugar sweetness. Full on the palate, with a nice bitter finish. Paired well with my Thanksgiving dinner. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Nov 22, 2006 Bottle. Batch #75. Pours a hazy yellow colour with a white head. Malty yeasty aroma. Malty flavor with spicy hints and hints of yeast. Long malty finish with some hints of yeast. Mutualaid (136), Texas, USA Nov 17, 2006 Pours honey with an off-white, creamy head. Aroma of warm spices with pleasant hop bouquet. The flavor is of alcohol at the front, followed by an amber malt and a tinge of hop bitterness. Quite a bit of alcohol heat, full body, clean finish. Parrothead (185), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 14, 2006 Batch 71. 22oz bottle Medium gold in color, thick, billowy head that leaves a nice lace all the way down the glass. Banana, clove, orange scent. Smooth, with an alcohol bight in back. Nice beer. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 3, 2006 Sampled from 22 oz. bottle. Distinctly different from the Dubbel. Orange peel and coriander burst out of the nose. Color is just a shade darker than a pilsner, may be even be a tad lighter than the dubbel. Taste is orangey and grainy. Any extra sugar in the brew is not too apparent, as there’s a well hidden hop balance to keep this enjoyable. Alcohol is also very well hidden, so be careful with this one.
