Cloudy blonde with a creamy head. Aroma fruitiness with some underlying spice. Medium body. not the best of this style, but not bad.
jcr (1139), Jasper, Indiana, USA Oct 22, 2006 Batch 66. Cloudy, golden body with large, soft white head. Big and inviting aroma of spice and fruits — clove, passion fruit, orange, banana. Multiple flavors emerge from a flowery bitter backbone, ripe sweet fruits, clove, honey, pepper. Medium body with smooth, creamy palate that seems to be a hallmark of Allagash. Sticky and long, dry finish. Warming alcohol. Outstanding. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 21, 2006 I was very impressed with this beer, from start to finish, and if I can find it, I will purchase it again.
The packaging was a large, cork-sealed single serve. Even before I opened it, this beer demonstrated a significant amount of sediment. I hung onto it for several months before drinking.
Poured a hazy gold with abundant white head (appealing). Odor was floral citrusy, and pleasing, but not outstanding.
Flavor was very good and the highlight of the beer...there was a grapey chardonnay sweetness balanced with a wine-like sourness. There was no hop content and limited malt flavor but the flavor was very good and (to my limited knowledge) very appropriate for the style. I was impressed with this beer and plan on having it again, when it’s once again available to me.
A 22-ounce bottle, purchased at Jungle Jim’s in Cincinnati, reportedly "Batch 77." Zinister (1199), Houston, Texas, USA Oct 16, 2006 Hazy light yellow with frothy white head. Decent lacing. Spice nose with honey and some yeasty pear and banana notes. Good taste with much the same as the nose. Finish is nice and long with pepper. Get a bit of a film on the tongue after 1/2 the bottle, but doesn’t bother me at all since this is a great beer. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Oct 12, 2006 Pours hazy yellow/golden with a frothy white head. Aroma of mild spice, hints of banana, honey, yeast, and some mild spice. Flavor is has some light hints of honey, mild spice, yeast, tropical fruit, banana, and a very slight bitterness. Palate is medium, long, effervescent, mildly spicy, honey sweetness, and lots of yeast. Fairly complex, and very enjoyable. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 2, 2006 A very nice aroma and a really tasty creamy head. A different triple, in that it’s not all that spicy, but quite excellent. Would definitely have again. MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Oct 2, 2006 Straw colored pour small white head, belgian yeasts some nice light pepper notes and bread dough make up the aroma. Palate is full well coated and lightly creamy. Sweet almost honey on bread flavor w/ some very sweet light fruits. Good.
