porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Jul 1, 2006 (750 ml bottle, batch 69, from Downeast Beverage Co., cellared for 7 months after purchase) Pours a cloudy light apricot-yellow. About 1/2’’ of white head recedes to a thin layer. Aroma of mild grapefruit and banana. Fine curtain of lacing on sides of glass. Mouthfeel dry, a little prickly. Flavor slightly winey, mostly light grapefruit and banana, a little gluey. Alcohol well-hidden. Finishes dry, leaves a light peachy-citrusy aftertaste. SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Jun 29, 2006 Finally, i decided it was time to try the Allagash available to me. A strong pressence of yeast decorated with spice, clove and banana. Immaculate looking gold with a soapy topping of head and plenty of lacing. The drink is quite rough on the palate with a fizzy and strong carbonation. Little notes of banana and clove found again but mostly a metallic flavor dominates over everything else. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Jun 22, 2006 (05.16.06) one pint, 9.4 oz brown bottle from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. Batch no. 62. 9% ABV. Poured hazy golden yellow with small white head. Soft carbonation. Fruity sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied Belgium-style trippel that starts with light malt sweetness and spicy (clove), intensely fruity (pear and kiwi) flavors. Very fresh and rich tasting ale with complex flavor character. Finished dry with light spicy clove flavor fade. Smooth. Complex character. One of my favorite Allagash beers. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 21, 2006 A dry, heavy flavorful beer. Its rich flavors of malt and high AC content make this a perfect nightcap after a good meal. Smooth with mild fruit and spices. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 21, 2006 The aroma is malty with plenty of yeast, herbal hops, and some fruit. The appearance is deep golden with some haze and a nice head. The flavor is very much like imported Abbey Tripels with the added bonus of not being overpowering (they do a great job of hiding the 9% ABV). It has all the elements from the aroma plus a nice dry finish. The palate is just about right. A well made beer. My only gripe would be the tiny bit of latex I am beginning to detect. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Jun 19, 2006 Bottled. Hazy orange colour, big orangeish white head. Fruits, sourness and weak alcohol in aroma. Flavour is fruits, weak alcohol and hops. It gets quite bitterish in the finish. Some hints of vanilla in aftertaste also. Refreshing, and the ABV is not disturbing at all. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 14, 2006 kinda unimpressed. i’ve had plenty of tripels with more flavor. boy, very little alcohol. pretty balanced, my only complaint is simply that there isn’t enough going on. it is, arguably, closer to belgian funk styles, but eminently drinkable nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 14, 2006 Updated: Dec 30, 2006Westside Brewery has a "Wine Barrel Aged" version of this beer. If it is in fact this beer, it doesn’t taste anything like it’s standard counterpart. Well, something like it, except subtract the citrus, carbonation, and huge spicy finish and add a mellow, more alcoholic flavor with a tacky feel in the mouth. BA I would give this beer about a 4.2. Very different...................................................................................................................
Bottle. Pale yellow color with a bubbly white head. Aroma has heavy vanilla notes and a sugary creaminess. Flavor is well balanced and has a bitter aftertaste. Nicely carbonated but a bit thin in comparison to the creamy aroma.
