Aroma is quite sweet with a nice floral background. Taste is sweeter then expected but well balance by some spices and wheat. Would have been better with a bit more kick (spices, it seems a bit light compared to Westmalle or De Dolle Tuve. Still very enjoyable but it seems a bit overrated compared to some other abbey tripel beer out there. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 9, 2006 Batch 62. Poured a fairly pale yellow color with a small head that disappeared quickly and didn’t lace all that great. A little bit of a fingering along the edges of the glass, but not much else interesting. Pretty subpar for the style. Aroma was nice, spices and some citrus type smells. The flavor was of light citrus, some spices, some bitter orange rinds, and definitely yeast. In fact, this one was more bitter than many a triple, without the complexity of sweetness and other malty stuff going on behind the scenes, or in the early flavors. Alcohol came on strongly as it warmed, a little too warming. A nice beer, but somewhere between 50 percentile and 75 percentile examples from the style. Mouthfeel was thick and of average carbonation. BrewDad (2402), Olympia, Washington, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Batch 54: Poured hazy yellowish orange with a nice fluffy white head...smell is sweet with lots of tropical scents and then strong spice with anise, pepper, and coriander coming through...the taste was very fizzy with a nice sweet malt flavor up front, giving way to a growing vegetable bitterness in the back...like an orange rind...finish is very dry...a great beer, but if it was a touch sweeter it would be rated much higher...
