Pours a nice saturated yellow color with a decent sized soapy head. Tastes like honey and malt. Pretty good but I was surprised to see it was considered one of the best. jaymobrown (1363), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 20, 2002 Batch 28: Hazy lemon color with small bubbles. First sip tasted like fresh cotton candy melting in the mouth. Mellows into a warm sugar alcohol sensation. In the middle there’s a dry grass flavor coupled with an acidic banana taste. Well rounded triple. JohnnyJ (1356), Carlsbad, California, USA

Aroma of citrus, spice, orange, and sweet malt. Flavors of spice, banana, orange, some grass and peppery notes, and a bit of hops. I enjoyed the four much more. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 26, 2005 Nice bottle poured hazy gold with a very strong yeast nose. The head was foamy and clung on to the side for dear life. The nose also has fruit and spice, Pepper? The taste yeast and banana and yes, pepper. The after taste was very good, maybe better then the real thing? The only trace of alcohol is with the warming. NICE for 9%. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Bottle, with Alaskanwarren. Thanks Brian! Pale orange/gold, lots of dense off-white head. Fresh green spring smell; sweet peas, black pepper, bubblegum, clove, citrus oil. Dense herbal hop flavor, lots of hop flavor but modest bitterness. Mint, menthol, lingering citrus oil. Cool tropical morning. Unobtrusive but somehow just right malt backbone, with a teeny warming quality, but as soon as it registers it is gone, and then just a sense of lightness of being. Finishes dry and delicate. An unusually nice American Belgian. boto (1352), Granby, Connecticut, USA

Very similar to Duvel, one of my favorites. You aren’t really aware of the alcohol in this. These guys can make a beer. I think that their Belgians are even better tham Omengang’s! Initially missed the honey notes as I had a mishap prior to tasting with real local honey. Certainly finding it at the bottom of a 750. Delicious. In a blind taste I can say that I would not have distinguished this as being anything other than a true Belgian. Peppery, spicey, and with the yeastyness that I expect. A finish that just goes on for miles. The label does not lie. Well, I have as of yet not done any cellaring ....
As for the visuals - hazy, light gold with a whipped egg white lioke head that dissipates.
