5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 TAR (2346) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - OCT 16, 2001
An insanely drinkable beer. Absolutely complex with notes of medicine, hops, salt and herbs. Head is as big as a beer can possibly have, the whole way down. Creamy, slightly spritzy mouthfeel and a lingering, salty finish. I don’t know if this is really 9% because the alcohol is hardly noticeable.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2009 Batch #47 – This beer has a sparkling clear golden body with very lively medium bubbles careening to certain death in a nice pillowy white head. The aroma is that of yeast, citrus (orange), spices (clove, a touch of ginger), and banana. The flavor is outstanding; the banana come out more in the flavor then if did in the aroma. All of the other flavors mingle together nicely to provide a wonderful flavor spectrum. The body is medium-full with a thick mouth coating finish, that also manages to be crisp and warming. There is no evidence of alcohol in the flavor and only a tad on the palate. An excellent American brewed Beligan Tripel.

Excellent triple. Highly carbonated with a head that stands up. Pleasant grainy aroma and flavor with a nice balance of hops.

Amazing American beer that reminds my untrained taste to Chimay Blue. High alcohol content provides some bite similar to an IPA. I’m new to this ratings process--but I know Allagash is now one of my favorite beers.

Wow what a great tasting triple. Has a lot of flavors going on, I can taste hints of citrus and bannana in this brew. Alcohol is very well hidden. Excellent !!!

Batch #32: Wow! This is some excellent strong ale. The spices were light and the honey was just right for the palate. Smooth and subtle sweet finish. ;)

Light golden orange color. Very smooth, sweet with vanilla flavor, good spices. Soothing and warm. This is a real treat, almost a dessert. Couldn't wait to finish the bottle.

Let me start by saying I'm an unabashed Allagash fan... On with the show: This is a Batch 32 bottle. Nice head, pleasing citrus aroma. Color is cloudy golden. Flavor is bright and sweet, with hints of spice. HUGE lacing. Dry finish. One of my all-time favorites.

Bottle, "Batch #47" (3.21.04) Pours a very pale but brilliant yellow, completely clouded with yeast; medium to smallish white head with excellent longevity; fair, visible carbonation that presents itself as a light fizz on the palate. Aromas are subtle but complex: honey, ginger, tropical fruit salad and cream. The flavors are much of the same up front, plus a nice depth of spices - coriander, allspice - and fantastic yeast and salt notes at the end. Absolutely amazing beer. I wish there was more of an alcohol presence, but otherwise perfect and so so so quaffable.

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2005 Bright golden, a bit cloudy. Darker color than expected. Nose is lovely, a bit bready, quite spicy, hints of lemon and orange peel. Nice yeasty flavor, good roundness. Has a spicy zippiness, has a slightly pine character to it. Finishes dry. Chewy and sweet, bubblegumlike with lots of candy sugars. Nice palate. The best tripel in the world, and it comes from Maine? Who woulda thunk it.
