GAManiac (213), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 17, 2008 This one pours a light golden orange with a small head that dissipated quickly leaving a bit of lacing.
The initial smells were of sweet fruits, pears and apples, and a big brett presence. I definitely thought this was a great crisp smelling brew on a hot summer afternoon. The taste was sweet with apricots but with a big funky brett kick. The finish was where I got the first big oak taste, which lingered for a while. Mouthfeel was very light and crisp and suited well for a hot spring afternoon.
This is a very drinkable brew from Allagash and I would seek this one out if you have the chance. This one is ideal on a hot spring afternoon in GA. egajdzis (2879), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2008 Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla oak, citrus fruits, spicy yeast, brett, white grapes, and leather. Taste of citrus fruits, lighter Tripel spices, oak, vanilla, and a lightly sour finish, with no alcohol at all. Thanks to TomDecapolis and goldtwins for setting this one up! hopdog (4442), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2008 Thanks to TomDecapolis for sharing this one! Poured a medium golden color with a very small sized head. Aromas of wood, funkiness, vinous, woody, and fruity. Tastes of vanilla, wood, funky, fruits, and grapes. Light tart and sour finish. TomDecapolis (2346), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 10, 2008 Thanks to goldtwins for the 10 oz growler trade. Pours a mostly translucent golden with a small bubbly white head that went away fairly quickly. Aroma of vanilla, oak, musty funkiness, some tripel spicy notes, bready, barnyard, some mixed fruits, light alcohol and white wine notes. Flavor of oak, vanilla, funky, some mixed fruits, tripel spiciness is still lingering, Allagash Tripel did well with the treatment they put it through. beastiefan2k (1065), Hicksville, New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 Color is a clear golden. Aroma is sour-tart and musky right off the bat. Then some green apple cider. Definitely sour aroma but nothing like a lambic. There is a lot of candi sweetness behind the sour. Taste starts with tripel sweetness that quickly followed by an earthy-musky tartness. Definitely a sweet beer overtaken by a sour yeast. A bit milky as well. Growler fill from Shoreline Beverage.
