3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
375ml bottle pours dark semi clear red brown with not much bubbles, almost no carb left. Nose and palate have some earthy nutty fruit, toasted caramel, some soft dark fruit, overall pretty rounded at this point, low tartness, medium funk, wet wood. Finishes dry with some dark grain, earthy molasses, date, nutty.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a rusty umber color with a trace of gaseous bubbles. Lots of old vinous notes, tawny port, madeira, nutty fruit cake, tart composted fruit and a background musty caramel. A bit oxidized but still an interesting sipper.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sour plums and hints of brown/roasted malts. A very strong balsamic vinegar quality. A really good early Allagash sour.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle gift from SJ.
Nice bold notes of wood and vino. The after taste was maple, bread, spice, caramel malts and dark fruit. Really a lot going on here, but blended really well.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
375 ml bottle. Pours a hazy caramel brown color with a thin beige film. The aroma is tart fruits, plum, very woody, caramel, maple syrup, cherry, amaretto. The flavor is maple syrup, tart plums, cherry, vanilla, caramel, wood, and almonds. Fairly smooth. Didn’t drink like 10%.

Shared by Thorpe429 alongside several other Allagash sour/wild ales. Thank you very much, Mike!
The beer appears a dark, reddish copper hue with a small, fletting head. The aroma brings maple syrup, booze, overly ripe dark fruits, caramel. The flavor follows suit. Complex and tasty. Notes of earth and nuts. Not especially tart or sour. Medium to full bodied with fairly low carbonation. Overall, I enjoyed this and am thankful to have tried it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear brown/amber pour. No head, nearly flat. Malty aroma with caramel, oak, and a smooth sourness. Flavor follows the aroma. Sweet, malty, oaky and loaded with caramel. The sourness is firm and comes on the finish. Its not overbearing, but more cleansing/refreshing for the palate. Medium to medium full body with no carbonation. Everything was in perfect harmony and this beer worked for me. It was a different sour and much tastier than similar beers (idiots drool, billy the mountain).

Bottle@Home. Wow! What a flavourful and complex beer. Very full aroma, fruity, light tart. Dark brown, light hazy, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, dried dark fruits, sourish, sweet, port. Light alcoholic.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Dark brown body, clean and with off white head. Does have a rich funk but sweetness and raisin as well. Moderate sour with a smooth prickly base, medium sweet. Nice. Long aftertaste, very nice. Thanks Menno/John!
