The aroma is unimpressive with malt, cheese yeast, and grapes. The appearance is deep gold amber with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall I like it but it’s not as good as I was hoping.

Blind tasting at Papsoe. Cloudy amber colour with a white head. Aroma of fruit, spices, malt and notes of grass. Flavour of yeast, spices and malt. Very belgium style but nothing overwelming at all.

Flight from Blind LAdy Ale House: Golden, fruit/bread aroma--way too carbonated for my taste.

Pours amber with a thin white head. Smells of grapes, sweet malt, sugar and rosey. Tastes like a cross between a poorly done merlot and a saison. The grapes really get in the way in this one. A major disappointment.

Not my favorite Allagash. The first sip was almost offensive, but got better after subsequent tastings. What really killed this beer for me was the harsh "burnt grapes in a plastic bag" aftertaste which made itself known for a long time after the beer was finished.
2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Glouglouburp (4772) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 10, 2009
In short: Excessive sweetness, cheap perfume and a lot white grapes. Disturbingly gross.
How: Bottle 750ml. Drank when almost 1 year of age, side by side with sister beer Victoria of same age
The look: Partly cloudy golden body topped by a little white ring of foam
In long: The nose is sweet and extremely perfumy (cheap perfume). As with Victoria the taste is sweet, too sweet. Lots of honey, caramel (Victoria had no caramel), a lot of white grapes (but less than Victoria), white sugar, some gooseberries. Spicy hops show up to spice up the finish but do not seem dry out the beer at all (Victoria lacked any kind of hops presence). However in mouth that cheap perfume nose translates to a disgusting cologne flavour that totally kills a beer that wasn’t very nice to start with. I couldn’t finish my 750ml, past half-point each sip became more and more gross. I went out to a bring-your-own wine/beer restaurant and brought Allagash Victor and Victoria thinking it would be an interesting comparison. And then I went to mistress Dora’s dungeon where she tied me up with barbwires and whipped me with rusty chains. What a great evening, that’s the type of man I am.

Sample on tap at 4th Avenue pub (a couple weeks ago). Pale gold no head. RGape juice aroma. Very sweet grape cough syrup flavor with boozy alcohol. Sickly sticky.

Ob boy am I against the grain on this one. This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a hazy typically carbonated orange brown colored body. The mild aroma was malty with what I suspect was a grape note from the description of the bottle, but it came off as just plain weird. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a strange weird aftertaste that I again assume was from the grapes, but not that I coulkd really discren it. I coulkd not stand more than a couple sips. It was just too weird for my palate to handle. A horrible one that I would not buy again.
