COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To create Victoria Ale, the brewers drew on references to Bucchus, the Thracian god of wine, in the history and artwork of the Victoria Mansion as inspiration for this new beer. One hundred pounds of chardonnay grapes were brought in, crushed on site and added directly to the mash. With a focus on the subtle wine-like character of the grapes, the 9.0% ABV brew boasts a pale copper color, Belgian yeast influence and a medium body with a long finish.

For every bottle of Victoria Ale sold, Allagash Brewing Co. will donate $1 to the restoration of this historic building.

We bottled it in February of '06. 451 cases (6 bottles in each case) were bottled.

Slifgtly hazy orange color, not much head. Fruity, Belgian yeasty aroma (peach and mango). Medium-bodied. Sweetish fruity - mango, apricot, apple - flavor. Oily palate. Hides its alcohol very well. Very American Belgian Strong Ale.

2009 vintage. Where this beer impresses me the most os the complexity in the palate. I would not say that it is full bodied, but has a length that lingers in the mouth.

A: Golden-orange body. Minimal head. No lacing to speak of. S: Bam. Chardonnay hits you right of the bat. Its not overpowering though. You could still get some yeast, pepper, clove and banana notes. T: More of the same. I think the Chardonnay grapes accentuate the flavor even more than in the nose. Banana and yeast carry the day as malt takes a back seat. M: Smooth. Refreshing. Slightly acidic. Clean finish. O: More of a novelty than anything else. A nice beer, but one that maxes out toward the end of the glass.

Draught a Milltown. Pours cloudy straw gold with one finger of sticky white had. Nose is lightly vinous and sweet with a definitive grape quality, lightly grassy and spicy , Very grape-y and vinous flavor with a slight spice and acidity. Dry and a tad zesty.

Bottle at the Funky 7, Brooklyn. Pours a cloudy, orange gold with a medium, white head. Big nose of yeast, banana, Belgian candi. Medium sweet flavor, some signs of age but I like ’em, citrus, spice, yeast. Medium to full in body with fine to average carbonation. Light warming finish, notes of white grapes, yeast, spice, fruits. Delicious beer. Has held up very well and this was just a joy to drink.
