3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
8/31/2011: Allagash Collabeeration Vrienden (Ale brewed with Hibiscus and Endive)... Aroma: Definitely get the hibiscus in the nose with a touch of vanilla herbiness. Appearance: Murky red-orange color with a foamy beige head. Flavor: The hibiscus definitely lends it unique flavor; there are also undertones of mild soft cheese like Brie (I got that from the label, but there is something there that I couldnít place and that description definitely fits the bill!); creamy, slightly tart and dry, plenty of alcohol vents out. Palate: Medium-light. Overall: Pretty good; different.
1 pint, 6 fl. oz. bottle (Alc. 8.5% by Vol.) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #78 for this beer.

Couldnít resist the allure of the Allagash Tap Takeover at Leonís last night. Although the event had only commenced at 5:00, the place was packed by 5:30. This was first up. Poured a reddish orange. The smell was of soap, citrus, and berries. The sour flavor was biting like and under ripe berry. An overall good beer. Draft - Leonís Full Service - Decatur, GA

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap: Pours an orange color with a white head. Aroma is of vine, vinegar, fruits, brett, flowers, and a bit of malt. Taste is sour, but not exceedingly so; however, the light sourness lets the other flavors manifest themselves. The fruitiness comes out well and balances with the vinous flavor. Nice amount of dryness. Some aftertaste. Good sour ale. This is a way better dandelion beer than the magic Hat Pistil, of course.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at fruit in the room 2011. Pours an amber gold with a thick white head. Aroma of vinegar, bandaid, funk and oak. Taste follows, sour and bretty with a lot of bandaid. Very dry, not an easy sour to drink. This was very early in my sour experience. I would love to revisit this one

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a moderately dark orange with a white lacing. The palate consists of a fruity sourness and the flavor highlights obvious notes of dandelion and what I would assume to be elderberry. Other notable flavors are lavendar and vinegar. The alcohol is incredibly well masked. While I fully understand the appeal of this beer, for me it lacks the Intense sour flavors Iíve come to expect from American examples of the style
