Couldn’t resist the allure of the Allagash Tap Takeover at Leon’s last night. Although the event had only commenced at 5:00, the place was packed by 5:30. This was first up. Poured a reddish orange. The smell was of soap, citrus, and berries. The sour flavor was biting like and under ripe berry. An overall good beer. Draft - Leon’s Full Service - Decatur, GA

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap: Pours an orange color with a white head. Aroma is of vine, vinegar, fruits, brett, flowers, and a bit of malt. Taste is sour, but not exceedingly so; however, the light sourness lets the other flavors manifest themselves. The fruitiness comes out well and balances with the vinous flavor. Nice amount of dryness. Some aftertaste. Good sour ale. This is a way better dandelion beer than the magic Hat Pistil, of course.

On tap at fruit in the room 2011. Pours an amber gold with a thick white head. Aroma of vinegar, bandaid, funk and oak. Taste follows, sour and bretty with a lot of bandaid. Very dry, not an easy sour to drink. This was very early in my sour experience. I would love to revisit this one
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 dogfish120love (733) - Westfield, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Pours a moderately dark orange with a white lacing. The palate consists of a fruity sourness and the flavor highlights obvious notes of dandelion and what I would assume to be elderberry. Other notable flavors are lavendar and vinegar. The alcohol is incredibly well masked. While I fully understand the appeal of this beer, for me it lacks the Intense sour flavors I’ve come to expect from American examples of the style

Pours rosy amber with a light tan head. The aroma brings sour yeast, a bit tart, and unique elderberry aroma, not sweet like red berries but dry. The flavor is pure tart and a bit sour, very smooth on the tongue though. The body is lighter, but delicious.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 thepeter (274) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2012
Fluffy and pretty nice head clinging to the glass. Light in color, Aroma of lemon zest, floural, earth and funk. Tastes similar very light and not too strongly flavored. An easy sour beer that has toned down elements of funk and osur, without much if any barnyard. Very soft and light on the palate. Overall a very nice beer that I am glad to have tried, alcohol was very well hidden and I liked how easy it was to drink and enjoy.

On draft at Novare Res for Gasharoo... Pours a nice copper color with a two finger white head that laces out beautifully. Bright aromas of fresh grassy hops, mint, a bit of tropical fruit and a hint of sour funky farmhouse notes. The flavors are everything I hoped for floral, bitter, grassy with touches of sour fruit, musk and funky earthy notes that finish off dry.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Scopey (3380) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 28, 2012
Bottle, thanks to thepeter. It pours hazy golden yellow, with a thick, pillowy white head. The nose is tart lemon, grapefruit, very floral, grass, lime and citrus pith. The taste is sour lemon, lime, grapefruit, floral, grass, definite dandelions, white grape and white currant, with a tart, floral finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden and it’s very well balance. Delicious.
