BiddleBrau (303), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jul 2, 2008 Cloudy, straw colored with nice white head, no aroma. Crisp, dry flavor, slightly grassy, with minor hop presence and an underlying citrus flavor. Palate is on the light side. On tap at The Shep’. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Jun 30, 2008 Allagash White is an unclear and hazy yellow amber color with a good initial but quickly disappearing white head. The lemon citrus aroma and taste is nicely sour while leading to a dry and bitter finish. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jun 27, 2008 Updated: Jun 30, 2008Bottle. pours a murky gold with a fluffy white head that doesn’t go away. Aroma is spicy yeast, bit of citrus. Taste is wheat, crisp citrus and coriander, spicy yeast - classic for the style, but fairly big. Finish is dry and yeasty, with a lingering spicy tartness. Mouthfeel is light but creamy at the same time, never watery. Delicious. Chipper (179), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2008 Pours a cloudy lemon color with a nice white head. The aroma is spicy, sweet and fruity.
Flavor is light crisp and perfect for summer. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 24, 2008 Have had this several times over the years and find it to be quite enjoyable and consistent every time. I like the grainy nose, has that strong breakfast cereal wheaty nose. Loads of delicious spice, coriander and just a hint of clove. Light and nicely balanced, with a very pleasant mouthfeel. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jun 22, 2008 Bottle purchased at Sam’s Wine and Spirits, in Chicago. Pours a cloudy pale straw with a fluffy white head that leaves behind sticky lace. The nose is just about my ideal for the style: full sweet wheat, orange peel, spice (coriander, perhaps a touch of grains of paradise and white pepper) and a light candy sugar note at the finish. Light-bodied and soft without feeling thin, it finishes just a tad tart and dry. A nicely balanced wit with notes of sweet wheat, citrus and light coriander. This is a very solid witbier and is among the best that I’ve sampled to-date. I wish I had picked up more of this one. djones (116), Michigan, USA Jun 22, 2008 Hazy yellowish orange. Fairly light bodied and full of citrus, wheat and yeasty flavors. Approaches hoegaarden, but not quite there. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 22, 2008 12 oz. poured into tumbler- poured semi turbid faded golden orange, white ring around the glass for a head with a small amount of lacing, low carbonation. Aroma of pepper, lemon, tangerines, lime, and bananas. Hits the mouth with a low medium body, many of the aromas translate averagely in taste, malt is detectable after some searching, finish is crisp and has some spice.
