Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, Allagash White delicately balances full flavor with a crisp, refreshing taste and subtle hints of spice. Naturally cloudy, bottled with yeast.

Bready, with some nice fruit tones. Light and very smooth with some carbonation. While tasty and full, it is rather one-dimensional. Still, it is far from disappointing.

Bright hay-yellow with a moderate bubbly white head, decent lacing. Nose is dominated by wheat, bubblegum, and lemon. Sweet flavor reminiscent of cream of wheat, also some light citrus and grain. Thin body, decent carbonation, short finish. Nothing extraordinary, whether right or wrong.

Pour from 12 oz bottle leaves a thin white head that quickly fades to a ring and pretty good lacing. Now, I tend to defy the label instructions about swirling the bottle to whiten up the pour. Without the mixed in yeast, the body looks like chamomile tea. Aromas of mandarin oranges and fresh white bread. Lemon, grapes, grapefruit, melon are all there on the tongue, but mellow together. Not very complex, but a decent domestic representative of the style.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm, 10 Sep 2009) Cloudy yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, wheaty nose with lemon peel, apricots and spices. Fruity taste with notes of citrus, apricots, wheat and a spicy finish with coriander and Seville orange. Slightly below medium body, balanced sweetness. Fresh and tasty witbier.

On tap at Red Coat in Royal Oak, MI. Pours a nice cloudy yellow golden color and a bubbly white head. There is a large aroma to this beer, big yeast and fruity notes and banana and clove and citrus. The flavor is smooth and complex. There is definite citrus flavors to the yeasty bitterness and banana/clove flavor. The palate was bigger than expected and complex throughout. Very enjoyable.

This bottle was only six dollars and I felt like that is a good deal on a 750 of Belgian style ale. This is a really light yellow and almost white in my snifter with a puffy white head. The smell is spicy and not unlike most witbiers. The taste is very good, easy to drink, nice citrus flavors and some subtle spicy, peppery taste. This is one of the better wits I have had, I really like how subtle the flavor is and how easy to drink it is. There is some phenolic flavor but it does not detract from the beer. Bright cloudy yellow golden color. Nice thick head on this one. Aroma is is full of yeast and malts with some spices in the background (I believe I can pick up some cloves). Good body on this brew. Taste is full of yeast and citrus. Has a little bit of lemon peels in the back end. Aftertaste has a little bit of a bite. I’m not a fan of this style, but this beer is amazing!
