Thick dense pastel yellow white in color with a thin white head. Smell is funky, citris, and grassy. Drinkable but a bit thick tasting for me. Almost too boggy for me. Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Apr 19, 2008 Honey gold body that is a shade lighter in color than many. A big white soapy head with good retention. Lots of carbonation. Nose of spice and tart fruit with yeast. It is crisp and refreshing with a nice wheat and yeast flavor. Only a bit of spice makes it way into the flavor and they are coriander and clove. This builds with glass temp. An unsettling dry bitter aftertaste shows up early but fades. The beer smooths out nicely as it warms. One of the better Witbiers. Jvittorio4187 (255), Boardman, Ohio, USA Apr 18, 2008 Pours a dirty gold. Lots of spice and slight fruit on the nose. Taste is nice with bannana and clove. Finish is clean and spicy. djd07 (721), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 17, 2008 On tap at the Flying Saucer. Has a pale golden color with a frothy medium white head. The aroma is clove banana and a bit of spice. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is also banana and clove with a dry light spice finish. A good belgian white from Allagash. idbowman82 (62), Painesville, Ohio, USA Apr 13, 2008 Delightful and refreshing. Pours a cloudy cream with very little head. The aroma is immediately wheat with just a touch of spice. The taste is much the same--a wheaty, bready taste with some spice (coriander?) and a hint of citrus. Mouthfeel is just a bit thinner than I’d have hoped, though it does finish very clean and crisp.
What it lacks in complexity it certainly makes up for with its clean, refreshing qualities. An excellent example of an American wit. McGarnigle (301), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 12, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours opaque yellow-orange with persistent fluffy white head. Initial smell is strongly of cloves, but later seems to settle down to coriander/lemon. The taste is along these lines, but not too spicy. Nice silky body with unobtrusive carbonation. Very good wit. Epeefencer (6), Sellersville, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Apr 9, 2008 A great tasting white beer. Fresh, crisp and great mouth feel. Wonderful head, laces very well. One of my favorites. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 9, 2008 Pours a yellow almost cream color topped with very little head. Citrus spiced aroma, mild but pleasant. Spicy citrus flavor seemingly consisting of orange and banana. Mouthfeel is a tad thin and after the initial citrus flavor it turns somewhat bland and watery in the finish. Refreshing and very easy drinking. A nice choice in the hot sun but it’s too expensive for what you get.
