3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BMan1113VR (6145) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 5, 2009
12 oz twist off bottle as show in the picture. Pours with a small white head over a confusingly clear gold body for a wit. Looks filtered and does not seem bottle condition in this 12 oz. Aroma is quite nice though with coriander, bread, honey and flowers. Taste is honey, flower blossoms, bread, coriander and orange peel. Thin and somewhat water like mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours a piss yellow with a white head. Aroma of cinnamon, clove, vanilla, wheat. Nice spicy wit. Cinnamon, clove, vnailla and wheat taste, a nice spicy wit.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - MAY 1, 2009
Draft. Pours a hazy yellow with a rocky, white head. Yeasty citrus, primarily lemon, and a bit of biscuit in the nose. Medium carbonation with a light, slightly dry mouthfeel. Yeast, coriander, and lemon make up an otherwise unremarkable palate. Unfortunately this one lacks much in the way of depth and is pretty ho-hum. Crisp, clean finish. Highly sessionable and good for a summer day.

Bottle: Drank at a beer tasting event in Wine-O. Has a nice soft fruity flavor, lots of malt and light traces of spices (cloves). Overall a nice event especially with Guayo´s family anecdotes! Should become a regular event.

750ml bottle - Batch 51 - This bottle has been sitting in my cellar for a month or two, and I’ve always found something I’ve wanted to drink more. Finally pulled it out to share with the wife, as the weather is getting a little nicer. Pours hazy golden amber with a big frothy head. Nose is all oranges with a bit of spice and yeast. Yum. Flavor is oranges, wheat, and nutmeg. There’s a hot, spicy finish that almost comes off as hoppy. A little harsh carbonation, but overall not a bad beer for drinking out on the porch on a sunny day.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 tlokester (4) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 23, 2009 does not count
Good taste, that was too quick to leave the palate. Nice head out of the bottle. Good aroma. Not a bad American version of a belgian wit.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 illidurit (1274) - Santa Cruz, California, USA - APR 20, 2009
Pale peach flesh goldenrod color with an off white head. Hazy body and okay retention/lacing. Aroma is wheaty with a lot of banana pith and a kiss of coriander. Flavor is again laden with banana pith, but there’s more complexity than in the aroma. Coriander is still there but it’s joined by a light lemony tartness and some citrus zest. Slightly sweet doughiness paired with the citrus evokes lemon bar pastries (although not nearly as sharp or sweet). Body is thin enough to be refreshing but not too flimsy to carry the flavor. Carbonation is just a touch high, but it’s soft enough to avoid being distracting. Overall this is a very good witbier but it lacks the depth and variety of ester notes of the best Belgian examples.
