Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, Allagash White delicately balances full flavor with a crisp, refreshing taste and subtle hints of spice. Naturally cloudy, bottled with yeast.

I don’t get it, I truly don’t get. Why, in the name of all things holy, is this beer rated at 3.5+? Don’t believe the hype, just because this is a microbrew from a radical west coast brewery doesn’t make it a great, or even good beer. I didn’t notice any ’subtle hints of spice’. In fact, the finish was almost non existent and left my palate with a bland, and strange aftertaste. This is my first ’Allagash’ beer, so I am not suggesting that these folks don’t have any good beers in their line-up, just not this one.

Tap @ Publick House, Brookline, MA. Pours a hazy yellow color with a frothy white head. Aroma is a mix of citrus, honey, spice, and other fruit. Taste is roughly the same, though the flavor is slightly weak and there is a definite acidic quality to the beer. Not the best offering from Allagash, and there are better witbiers out there.

Bottle. Light notes of straw and basement and a moderate smell of lemon for the hops with hints of pear, honey and clove and other spices. Head is a mostly lasting, frothy white with good lacing. Color is a murky yellow, kinda like Saturday morning pee pee, mmmm good. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acetic to start and finishes lightly acidic. Palate is light to medium, between watery and oily with a fizzy carbonation. I’m not a fan of witbiers but this ones a bit better than the rest.

Appearance: Pours a clou-- oops, it seems I did not follow the label’s explicit instructions of "Pour - Swirl - Pour Yeast". Bottoms up! Pours a cloudy, light-hearted yellow body with a thin white head. Smell: Soft aroma of freshly-squeezed citrus fruits, bananas, yeast, coriander, and cloves. Taste: Smooth, gentle flavor of wheat with hints of bananas, lemons, and yeast. The spicing remains reasonably light. Finishes semi-sweet and citric. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Somewhat oily mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: Its fine, but not a beer I can really get excited over. Not that I don’t sincerely try to be that Excited About Wits Guy, but I’m starting to feel as though that’s never going to be the case.

Poured a yellowish orange color with a thin white head. The aroma was of citrus fruits, and some spice. The flavor was similar with a good amount of spice to it. A good mouthfeel that finished clean and crisp. A good refreshing wit, that is great for those hot days.

A cloudy appearance. Aroma is faint spice, flavor is very much the same. A light and smooth spice flavor, and its also thirst quenching. Good for those hot summer days.
