A mild smell of lemon/wheat/honey. Hard to distinguish what all is going on, flavor ends up being a little bit muddy instead of complex. The banana/clove flavor from the yeast is hidden/muddled in with everything else. With all my complaints out of the way, its still pretty good (more true to the style than other American attempts I’ve tried).

The aroma is smashing, with definite notes of spice, ranging from coriander, clove, and some nutmeg, and the yeast notes are intoxicating. It’s appearance is the standard cloudy, unfiltered appearance, with a glowing yellow-white color, and nice full head. It’s flavor is complex for a white initial a bit citric, but cools immediatley with a full yeasty, but nicely malted mouth, and followed by a dose of spice. It’s a Hoegaarden w/ more character, if that’s easily believed. It’s exceptional. It’s very smooth, and complex when that’s not something associated with this style. Awesome.

On tap. Pours with a nice foamy head that persists for quite a while. Aroma is yeast and spices. The flavor is fairly typical for a Belgian Wit: yeast and spices, with a bit of citrus. A slightly sour aftertaste persists. The mouthfeel is very nice, though not quite as nice as those of many authentic Belgian Wits. A fine beer.

Bottle and Draught so many times. Well spiced and balanced out against the belgian yeast flavors. Wheat and soft fruit blended nicely and a soft mouthfeel to boot.

Poured a nice hazy orange color with a big white head. Aroma is very fruity and crisp on the nose. Flavor is much the same, blended well with the added spices. Allagash seems to do belgians styles very well.
