Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, Allagash White delicately balances full flavor with a crisp, refreshing taste and subtle hints of spice. Naturally cloudy, bottled with yeast.

Bottle. Pours a light golden with a lasting white head. Aroma is light with perfume notes as well as some spices. Flavor is sweet, apple notes and some underlying spices. Pleasant.

Taste test with Paulaner, Terrapin Sunray, and Allagash White. Aroma - Wheat, citrus, light clove, banana. Appearance - Dark yellow, hazy, thin white head with little retention but good lacing (best lacing of 3). Flavor - Citrus, wheat, light clove, very light spice. Palate - light body, thin feel, lively. Overall - I taste the most wheat and spice with this of the 3. Good beer but I can only give this one 2nd in taste and a tie in value with Terrapin.

On tap in Portland, ME. Had a white, good-sized head. Body was hazy with a dark-yellow color. Nice lacing. Aroma was strong with citrus (orange), but not at all overpowering. Nice on the palate, slightly creamy with average carbonation. Great flavor - citrusy, with a medium-lasting finish. A great witbier that was enjoyed on a sunny deck on the waterfront.

I can’t believe I’d never rated this beer before! I’ve stated that Wittekerke (though poorly thought of on this site) is my favorite witbier, although its status is definitely threatened by this beer. This is extremely balanced for a witbier, and doesn’t seem intended for the Blue Moon/Spotted Cow drinker who craves something extremly sweet. I thought the flavor was very pleasant but not over-powering. As stated in other reviews, the color is straw-yellow and cloudy, with a modicum of white head. Aroma is yeasty, lightly citrus-sweet, with a not-obnoxious amount of cloviness. Flavor is more of the same but with the addition of a nice maltiness that seems to create balance and doesn’t seem at all out of place. Mouthfeel is adequate. All-in-all, a very tasty brew. Recommended. My Dad brought this over to my house - believe he bought it at the Class VI store at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Pours yellow with thin white head. Aroma is mild yeast and spices with a little citrus. Taste is sweet malt, some clovey spice, and a little bit of orange peel. Tasty and easy drinking.

Pours a pale gold color with a small white head. Aroma is corriander and cloves. Taste is the same plus a touch of pepper and orange peel. Light and refreshing. Easy drinking and enjoyable.
