Clean, yet full of character and complex

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2006 Pours a beautiful hazy yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma is solt orange peel with a pleasing light sweetness and traces of coriander. Taste is initially of orange peel and wheat leading up to the coriander on the finish and then a combination of the the flavor that sticks around. An amazingly tasty beer that is also unobtrusive. This is easily one of my favorites of the style. patrick767 (2058), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2008 bottle - Pours cloudy gold with a fluffy white head and a yeasty aroma. The flavor is sweet and citrus accented. There’s also a hint of spice in this light, refreshing brew. I thought it was good, but not great. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Updated: Jul 11, 2008Been waiting to taste this high percentile witbier, this is one of my favorite styles. I love it when the label has the hypnotizing pour method and directions. Great appearance in a big clear glass. A little more hay colored than many witbiers. Aroma is a little sour in this short stubby twist off bottle. Initially the smell is a little musty.but once poured In the glass the aroma clears and is more volatile. Good creamy microbubble fizz. Flavor is thoroughly enjoyable. Very little if any bitterness in this brew. As you drink a mild impression marks it’s spot on the back of the throat that I hesitate to call bitter. Perhaps just a little malt bite, I don’t know. Good flavor for a witbier above 5% hides the alky well. Overall, just a plain good example of this enjoyable style, simply great. Certainly one of the better wheatbeers in my repertoire. Certainly as good as Pax and Ommegang. Not quite on par with East End wit and Hoegaarden. Better than sammy adams wit. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 18, 2004 Updated: Aug 12, 2007My limited experience with Allagash products has been a bit hit or miss in my pleasure. I was intrigued by their wit however. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the beer poured a hazy pale yellow color with a small white head. The aroma was a pleasant mix of sour, tangy, spicy, and wheat. The flavor was dry spice and wheat with a hint of citrus. Overall a reasonable interpretation of the wit style containing all the elements expected, though not managing to really stand out from the crowd. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2005 This starts out with an average sized white head over a very pale yellow body. Almost clear.
Light funky citrus aroma with some sourness that follows in the flavor.
This was o.k. but not as good as others I’ve had. Indra (2041), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 24, 2003 Juicy orange and yeast in the nose, some coriander. Cloudy, light golden in color with lots of suspended particles and a very slight head. Flavor is initially tart, lightly malty and citric, becoming much sweeter and fruitier, with the yeast and spices added in towards the finish. Very "wet" palate, with a smoothly effervescent mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied, unusual for this style. I think I expected a little more from the #1 Witbier in the world (according to current Ratebeer stats). It's a little too sweet and the spices are a little too prominent for me to enjoy this highly.
