3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance is true to style, a hazy, glowing white/yellow with a bit of white head on the top. Big slug of gritty yeast left over in the bottom of the bottle. The biggest hitter in the flavor is the Belgian yeast profile, a sweet mix of fruits with banana and orange most prominent. Sweet and tangy backing from the wheat. The spices show up most in the lingering mouthfeel. Itís thin and yet a little harsh going down, not wowed by the mouthfeel at all. Overall good witbeer, easy to find.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
FROM NOTES: October 21, í13.
A: Yeast, corriander, citrus (lemon), grassy hops.
A: Pours a hazy yellow that is very light and faded in color. A strong head that quickly recedes.
T: Citrus hops, lemons, spices, Belgian yeast, coriander, floral hops, fruity and bready malts, orages, pepper. More spice here than the nose.
P: Light-medium body; high carbonation; crisp and refreshing.
O: A nice Wit but perhaps a little strong in the spice department. Definitely one to try if youíre at all a fan of the style.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Bright medium gold. Cloudy. Light white head. Citrus and spice lift. Slight reductive note but very fresh. Clove or other brown spice. Loads of grain. Very dry. Slight sour note due to wheat. Low to medium bitterness. Lean, fresh, mid weight and length. Very elegant and pure. Would be wonderful on a hot summer afternoon.
Perfect refreshment after a day of wine tasting!
The elegant dry palate reminds me of the Celis tasted many years ago. The more I taste it the better I like it.

All around nice beer. This is my favorite wit. Some clove, banana, pepper, light sweetness, and a nice soft palate and creamy mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light amber color, with cloudy pour from 12oz bottle. Little to no head persistence, slight lacing. Rather aromatic, with almost a floral taste. A Belgian, but simply so.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
I poured a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. It was bottled on 9/4/13 and cost $3.75 ($0.32 per ounce).
Appearance: Bright lemon skin-yellow hue. Opaque. Pours to a small, bright white, foamy head which mostly evaporates and leaves minor lacing on the glass.
Smell: The smell of summer: bright orange and lemon citrus, light spices, clean flowers and Belgian yeast esters.
Taste: There isnít much to say about Allagash White that hasnít been said about a lot of other witbiers. Itís one of the better American examples of the style as itís tasty, robust, well-balanced and highly drinkable. This is exactly what I expect in a witbier.
Just like the aroma, the flavor here is a sweet and spicy mixture of orange citrus and light peppery notes. A clean, refreshing taste across the tongue with hints of lemonade or orange juice, but without any tartness or acidic character. The finish imparts subtle clove or black pepper seasonings. Not much in the way of bitterness or specific hop character, though thatís fine because this is exactly to the style specifications. Itís satisfying to be sure, though I canít help but wish it was a little bit more robust.
Drinkability: Allagash White is so damn refreshing it almost seems to do it a disservice drinking it in colder weather. The mouthfeel is rather full and energetic for what is technically a smaller bodied beer. Refreshing and crisp with a clean aftertaste - itís difficult to not quaff it all down at once. At only 5.1% ABV itís tempting to throw back several of these in a row.
