An American Pale Ale with tropical fruit and citrus aromas, refreshing bitterness with grapefruit, mango and peach in the flavour.
NOTE: Originally made in the style of an American Pale Ale, but using only UK grown hops and malt. Now includes New World Hops but the date of the switch is unknown.

Bottle 50 cl. Hazy golden with a lacing, white head. Nose has some deep fruit and a little caramel. Medium body, very fruity, somewhat spicy with a solid, late bitterness. Not bad but I much preferred the one simply called Pale Ale. 121016

Cask conditioned at Cheltenham Beer Festival í16. Amber with white head. Quite a fruity, flowery, peachy beer this one, sweeter than expected, light caramel. Itís okay.

Bottle. M&S. Hazy, light amber. Thin, dense, sticky, lasting, white head. Looks good. Nose has fruity, tinned strawberry hop. Ginger biscuit malts. Some lemon tang. Taste is light, pithy bitter. Soft, biscuit sweetness. Smooth, hop oily mouthfeel. Long, light, pithy bitter finish. Good stuff.

Bottled 500ml (AbM, BB 11/2016, bottled 170915)
Clear amber color, small white head. Overriped pineapple, rye and resin aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Tropical fruits - pineapple, kiwi, peach. Also some resin and citrus. Same time a bit harsh, ryeish flavor. Restless overall. Not so fresh anymore, but has potential when fresh.

500 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Looks: Translucent straw golden honey colour; Three-quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and fizzy slow carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant Ale malt, with strong honey, strong floral, grapefruit, light orange, berries, light caramel, sugar, strong resin, lemon and grass.

Taste: Medium sweet Ale malt, with grapefruits, light orange, floral, caramel, toffee, strong molasses, strong ooze, spices, biscuits, strong lemon, strong bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Close to medium body. Quite slick and oozy palate.

Mouth Feel: Very good Ale maltyness in a slick background. Strong caramel and toffee, followed by strong grapefruits and floral. Strong sweetness being balanced by ooze and strong bitter lemon and grass. Big and nice!

Hoppiness: Strong floral, grapefruit, orange, berries, strong resin, lemon and grass in nose. Grapefruits, floral, strong ooze, spices, strong lemon and sharp grass in taste; Bitterness is strong for a lasting, high astringent sweet-bitter finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Fruity hoppy and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: I like APA thatís hoppy as well as sweet and this one fit the bills: while the fruity aroma is moderate at best, the taste is bold enough with big fruity hops and nice sweetness which is intense but well balanced. A rare feat. Highly recommended!

Bottle from M&S Westfield Stratford. Clear amber colour thick lasting white head. Hoppy slightly oxidised aroma. Hoppy no doubt, big kick of hops, decent condition, there is something a bit like oxidised metal hops, but itís still a decent beer. A little bit of pukey malt. There are elements that are good and some are not so good. Ultimately I wouldnít drink this again.
