A Sim rate (Chelmsford BF): Sweet, winey aroma with a hint of plum. Looks very portery.. which is always good to see. Flavour’s ok. It tastes somewhere between a bitter and a porter. Slight bitterness, but then a sweet plum balances it out. OK, but not great.

Bottle, Hotel du Vin, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Deep dark brown with next to no head.
Choccy malt, coffee aroma and flavour with a hint of woodiness. Smooth and easy drinking with some depth to it despite the weakish abv. Would like to try cask effort.
