Cask @ the local pub in Allendale Town. Pours pale brown / dark red. Nice aroma of raisins and chocolate with medium strong coffee following. Very refreshing and light with spicy chocolate notes. I warmly reccomend this one.

A Sim rate (Chelmsford BF): Sweet, winey aroma with a hint of plum. Looks very portery.. which is always good to see. Flavour’s ok. It tastes somewhere between a bitter and a porter. Slight bitterness, but then a sweet plum balances it out. OK, but not great.

Bottle, Hotel du Vin, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Deep dark brown with next to no head. Choccy malt, coffee aroma and flavour with a hint of woodiness. Smooth and easy drinking with some depth to it despite the weakish abv. Would like to try cask effort.

GBBF, Trade Day, 2008 Cask. A refreshing thin stout with roasty notes and a lingering bitterness. Nice.
