A Classic Brown coloured ale, highly drinkable with moderate bitterness from Target hops, classic Goldings aroma and an exciting citrus floral hop character from a late hopping of Cascade.

Cask conditioned at Harbury Beer Fest ’07. Brown ruby with white head. Rich malty dry bitter, again a late hop and a lingering fruitiness. Sharp metallic notes in the body, warms to a lingering biscuit note.

Surprisingly dark for a hoppy ale, which adds a welcome sweetness and depth of flavour. Grassy aromas mix in with the toffee and the taste is pleasantly robust. Could just use a bit more body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted this in the Three Judges, Glasgow in February 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Pale copper red in colour with a thin white head. slight metallic dry tang in the aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Sharp pale malt base has a hint of dried raisins but this gives way to a metallic tang from the hops in the astringent aftertaste. Bitter sweet finish. Disappointed with this.

Cask/gravity at 2011 Ealing beer festival. There’s a decent ale here - deep brown with honey on the nose, and a crisp malty body with apple and biscuit notes - but with an off-putting nail polish overlay. Something not quite right, methinks.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Didn’t partake of this at the Cambridge Festival as it was not one of chriso’s needs. Blow me down, next day it’s on at the Welly! Amber. Malt aroma with an initial metallic impression. Grass and malt in the taste: the result slightly grim and bilious. Mid bitter finish. Looks good, but doesn’t quite satisfy.

Had this at the Cambridge beer festival, wasn’t taking too many notes that day. Terribly quaffable, but all over quite an average bitter. The zestiness of the cascade was apparent but dissipated quickly.

Bottle, not BC. Bright bronze with fine lace drapes. Fine musky hop-driven aroma mixing up grapefruit, passion fruit, rose, peardrop and stewed tea. Flavour more caramelised with cakey cherry hints, nutty malt linger, hint of choc biscuit. Hops fade away a bit, which is disappointing. Filtered so no yeasty weirdness, hint of smoke for dessert. Doesn’t quite deliver.

Cask @ 3 Judges. Amber colour, small fast disappearing off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts and dark fruits. Flavour is of caramel malts, fruits and citric hops. Bitter finish.
