Chocolate brown colour and indeed a flavour of chocolate comes through along with some coffee. A little thin for a porter but a good drink. From 330ml bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

GoufCustom (1565) - HONG KONG - APR 10, 2016

500 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Clear deep blackish brown colour; Near zero head with residual soapy off white foam which fades in 5 seconds; Poor sticky lacing and near zero carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of dark malt, with strong toffee, strong caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, light black currant, strong cream, strong sugar, alcohol, liquorices, earth, light lemon and light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of dark malt, with strong black coffee, caramel, toffee, burnt toast, sugar, liquorices, strong earth, biscuits, lemon, medium bitter hops and grass; Close to light body, thin palate; Mouth Feel is good dark maltyness in a watery background. Strong roastyness with burnt toast, quite sticky toffee and caramel. Booze is fairly well hidden but with strong liquorices. Strong but restrained sweetness. Earthy and biscuit with fair lemon to round. Pretty nice!... Hoppiness is light black currant, earth, light lemon and light grass in nose, and stronger in taste; Bitterness is fairly strong for a lasting, mid-astringent coffee malty finish; Quite dry after taste. Sweet and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one has strong toffee and berries aroma, and the nice black coffee, liquorices and earthy hop taste is very likeable. Only poor carbo and thin body holding its back. Otherwise this is a strong and enjoyable Stout. Worth a try!

Cask, handpump, Tilly’s, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Wednesday 1st October 2014. Pours black with a slim tan head. Rich and full flavoured, hops show, the finish is dry. This is just a little past its best and becoming a bit tired, still the abv and flavours carry it through. Roasty in mouth. Will look out for this again when in top nick. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
