1/2 at the Tilley Stone Gateshead. Pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of grapefruit and barley sugar. Grapefruit in the flavour too- is this now mandatory for blond ales? Did I miss a memo? To be fair, there is some tropical flavour too. A few years ago I would have found this exciting and innovative, now it’s ubiquitous. A nice enough beer, the flavours are just a bit over-familiar.

Cask. Light gold colour with a good fluffy head. A middling affair - light and refreshing with a nice hoppy twang.

Overall - Reasonable, above average golden ale
