3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 FatPhil (6205) - Tallinn, - JAN 27, 2012
Cask (CWAF2012, Fri)
Lovely authentic german dunkel nose, perhaps a little less sweet than many, nicely nutty and dry, as well as decently toasted. Full palate. Really good brown nutty roast in the taste. A lot of German brewers could learn from this beer, this is a very tasty well attenuated dunkel.

bottle, Rehills, Ncl. Pours a bit flat and has a thin palate and body for a 5.5 ABV. Light chocolate and vineous aroma, sweet malt on the tongue, short finish.Expected quite a lot more from this.

for me a bit too thin to carry the fullflavour which is on offer. my first dunkel, so that may be OK.
good deep brown colour. plenty of nuttiness and sweet matliness in the flavour.
very drinkable....... in fact it’s gone already!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sigmund (3709) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - APR 1, 2011
Cask (hand pump) at the Darlington Spring Thing Beer Festival 2011. ABV is 4.6%. Chestnut colour, low head. Malty and nutty aroma. Nutty flavour, a hint of caramel, but very dry for a dunkel. Fairly bitter hops in the finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerViking (1042) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2010
500ml bottle, pours a dark chestnut with a fast-vanishing beige head. Dry malt on the nose with hints of treacle and dried date, the palate is roasty with burnt treacle and roasted hazelnut notes, and a sharp lasting bitter aftertaste. Nice but somehow a bit too thin-bodied to carry the roast flavours.
