(Cask at GBBF, London, 8 Aug 2007) Dark brown colour, almost mahogany, with brief head. Malty nose with dark fruit and blackcurrant. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit and blackcurrant. Slightly vinous, lactic notes. Lots of chocolate in the finish.

Aug 29, 2008 Cask@Peterborough Beer Festival, 2008. Thick dark brown looking beer. The aroma is strongly sweetly malty, with a touch of roasted’ness. The flavour is bitter, malty, smooth and slightly toffee. Overall a nice beer.

Jul 12, 2008 Cask pint in Newcastle area. Aroma of standard dark pint, deep brown/black pour and a tiny 1cm cream head. Taste is distinct coffee, slight malt and moderate bitter. Good example of an english pint.

Apr 19, 2008 Cask in the 3 judges. Aroma is nutty, oxidies malts, fruity and slightly floural. Taste is similar, quite thin and drinkable as im guessing its been on for a few days. Alright and very drinkable.

Dec 25, 2007 Cask at GBBF 2007. A hazy brown beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet and very malty, while the flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and a light roasted note.
