Inspired by Trappist beers of Belgium this "double Dubbel", hence "Quadrupel", has notes of burnt caramel, fruit, and clove. Beware the alcohol!

650ml brown bottle. Dark brown pour, looks fairly clear. Head is thin, tan in colour with some foamy shoulders and a bit of a shallow surface film. Nose has dark chocolate, raisin, big esters - clove and banana. In the mouth the beer has choclate, caramel, raisins, and fruity notes of banana. Finish has strong alcohol, dark cocoa-ish malts, some hops, a little yeast. Medium to full body, good level of carbonation. Overall this was a little underwhelming, but not really a bad beer. I guess it doesn’t help when two of my favourite beers are St Bernadus Abt 12 and Rochefort 10. Those beers are hard to live up to, but I’ve drank lots of each of those so it’s hard not to compare any brew calling itself a quad to those two iconic brews. I’m exactly sold on the nose, too estery for me. Gains some depth of flavour as it warms, but somehow doesn’t quite come together for me in the end.

Pours a dark mahogany with ruby highlight. A thick and creamy beige head with thick fuzzy lacing. The nose is heavy and mildly roasted with a nice desert like fruit. Notes of toffee, tart, prune, raisin and a bit of spice. The middle is sweet and fruity with a hint of clove and a prominent raisin taste. The finish has a mild alcohol and light hop with a nice Belgian style yeast and a beautiful aftertaste. The body is medium to full with a bit of a light mouthfeel.

Bottle: Poured a hazy deep brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of caramelized candi sugar and dry raisins notes is pleasant. Taste is also dominated by caramelized candi sugar with some light toffee notes with some dry fruits notes also perceptible. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Though style to brew with so many staples but still an enjoyable version.

Bottle @ Presidential Suite. Thanks to the Canadians, eh. Amber pour with a white head. Smells of caramel, toasted bread, and toffee. Lightly floral. Quite sweet and a touch fruity. Mild booze on the palate. Tons of caramel, toffee, and raisin. Hints of plum and flowers. Slightly herbal on the finish. Very light spices.

Bottle. Tasted at RBSG grand tasting post-tasting. Last one of the night (I hope). Clear dark red color. Thin khaki head. Leaves good reaches of lace. Looks good. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation, more dry finish. Dark fruit, spice. Moderate bitter taste, some light sweet. Spice. Decent quad, here. Some ginger.
