A good malty beer... not strong by any means but really smooth and drinkable... a good "hot summer day" beer.

Clear dark redish colour. had a good head but with no retention. tangy acidic (citric) nose. Bitter malt taste that lingers. Very good lace

I don’t know why but it’s probably been 8 years since I drank one of these I really should pick up alley Kat more often. I guess you could call the color of this brew amber but it is really dark version of it, the limited cap produced during the pour reduced to nothing very quickly. Aroma is very sweet with caramel and has the aroma of vegetable hops and on long deep inhales I can smell metallic’s. Taste is so much better then I remember the malts are sweet and thick with lots of caramel and mild hints of biscuit. The beer is way hoppier then expected which is a good thing and by good I mean fawking awesome. The bitter hops and the caramel flavor are perfectly balanced in this, so very drinkable. I think I’ll but more.

341mL bottle poured light brown into glass with off-white head and small lacing. Aroma is caramel and some floral hops. Taste is lightly sweet caramel and a mild bitter hoppiness in the finish. Light carbonation and medium body, this beer is a fine example of the style.

Bottle. Pours with a dark reddish color and a smallish head. First impression is nuts. The aroma profile is all dominated by that. Flavors are more complex, caramel predominates, but there are some spices, some subtle smokiness and some nuts. Very interesting and well done.

reddish copper, well retained lacy off white head. aroma of rasty malt, coffee, caramel and a hint of citrus hop. flavour follows and would be as nice as the aroma but it thins out and leaves before you know it. still not bad, though.

Originally reviewed Jan. 31, 2007: went to local restaurant and was surprised they had this on tap. delightfully surprised. the pint came back with an off white, medium head. colour is, well, amber. can taste a small amount of hops, and was complimented with a sweet spice. taste had a smidge of bitterness, that wasn't shunned. apparent light lacing. good brew.
