2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 presario (4131) - Stampede City, - MAR 3, 2008
12oz bottle. Thick head. Copper colour. Minimal aroma, not sure if wood or vanilla is trying to rise up. Basic amber ale sipped with cinnamon hearts in the mouth. A bit of a Valentine’s surprise from Alley Kat and Sherbrooke.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 reebtogi (2159) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 19, 2011
341mL bottle poured brownish-red with 2 fingers of off-white head diminishing quickly leaving little lace behind. Aromas of roasted malt and hops. Taste is caramel sweetness with some bitter hops in the finish. This beer is a Sherbrooke exclusive and was quite enjoyable.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1697) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 26, 2009
Dumped out into glass and got a light brown brew with a small white head that immediately died leaving no hope for lacing. Smells of dark caramel, buttered toast, a bit of roast malt, weak fruit (early on. Comes out a bit more later, but not much). The taste is of fruit (don’t recall anything definite), dark caramel and roasted malts. It decent enough to keep you happy. Don’t forget the hops throughout. The mouthfeel is smooth and soft with a good swish, nice bitterness and fresh and ends with a semi-creamy coating and an odd bitterness that reminded me of X-Mas for whatever reason. Tastes better when warmer. Doctor Zhivago - Ch 16, page 273, first paragraph: "Yury was riding home from Yuryatin." Huh?
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Cirrhosis (931) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 11, 2009
"More of a bronzy brown then a red color for the body and it has a tan cap that seems to have some lasting power looks normal. Smell is mild but not offensive what is always a good start from Alley Kat, watermelon, some sweet malt, and a touch of plain yogurt. Mild hop flavour (watermelon) very smooth malt, wood, and I swear I’m getting a sour yogurt flavour. Some sweet blueberry maybe is showing up in the finish. This is good enough to set back and drink if you don’t want to think about it but I’ll never buy again."
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 pintbypint (1610) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 29, 2008
341ml brown bottle. Coppery orangey coloured beer with an off white head that starts big but all butvanishes half way through the glass. Aroma is sweet malt with a light toffeeish note. Flavour is also malty with caramel and bready notes. Light leafy note from the hops in the finish. Medium bodied. Good drinkability.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DuffMan (4418) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 27, 2008
Dark copper brown, leaning more toward brown. Clear, decent off-white foamy head. Very malty aroma-- breadcrusts and brown sugar... YUM! Much more malty than the Howe Sound brown ale we just finished. Very low bitterness. This is a delicious ale, whether you want to call it red or brown, but I wouldn’t personally call it an amber. Incidentally, I got no spice in this whatsoever, but I think that’s a good thing. This beer shines in its simplicity and sound craftsmanship. I’m glad I bought a 6-pack!
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 JoeZasada (255) - Beaumont, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 6, 2008
Thick head but dissipates quick.... copper colour, smoky aroma.... a light amber ale, but with a bitter hop taste, with a smoky maltiness.

(Actually a red ale not an amber ale, but that wasn’t a choice)
This is a seasonal offering brewed by Alley Kat for Sherbrooke Liquor Store for Valentine’s Day.
First off, given Sherbrooke’s last two offerings, I had high expectations for this one. Unfortunately, as a result, I was left a little disappointed.
Red color going flat quickly, slight sweet malt aroma, slight harsh hops noted to start, but these smooth out by mid-beer making for a drinkable beer, slightly above average.
