Tap. Did not know the beer had changed and I was pleasantly surprised. Amber with light head and lacing. Smells like a pale ale. Full scent of nice grain. Tastes like like a moderate beer nicely dry hopped. Nice lingering hops. Well worth a second look.

341ml bottle pours a golden color with about a finger of white head that leaves a few spots of lace behind. Aroma is cereal grain and grassy hops. Taste is light malty sweet with a modest hop bitterness in the finish. This is a pretty decent lager style beer with a generous amount of carbonation and a light to medium body. Much better than the macrolagers.

On tap at Craft Beer Market on 09/17/2011 in Calgary, AB. Colour: Medium yellow with medium head. Nose: Spring flowers, vanilla pods, mild perfume. Taste: Medium-light sweet, Medium bitter, light sour. Again floral and dominant vanilla. Tasty.

NOTE: This is now called "Alley Kat Charlie Flints Organic Lager" and is very different from the old "Original Lager". It is better. The barcode hasn’t changed so it is not possible to setup a new beer in the Ratebeer system. The appearance of the beer is appealing. It is a medium sparkling yellow. The head is white and fairly thick and consistent. Head retention was fairly short. The aroma is reminiscent of a pilsner with a sweet touch to it. The hop aroma is soft and somewhat grassy. The taste is malty at first with a moderate bitterness and a dry finish. The hops tend to linger. The mouth feel is smooth with moderate to high carbonation. Overall this beer goes down very smoothly with a fairly understated flavor profile that would likely be just right for putting several away on a hot summer day.
