3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 thb (617) - Alberta, - AUG 10, 2012Maybe the hop aroma dissipated quickly - the hops in this one really didn’t stick out at all apart from a bitter finish. Aroma was really malt driven, almost like an English strong. And by that yardstick it performs well, but compared to the other 2xipas in the series it...isn’t. Caramel, candy aromas, gentle pine backing. Mild diacetyl. Oh, and it’s orange with nice white head.

Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Lots of tropical fruits. Nice long lasting head and a clear orange hue. Taste is just like the nose, lots of tropical fruits with a bitterness that lingers throughout. Of all the IIPA’s offered in the Dragon series, this one stands up the best as far as flavor.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Reimer96 (620) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 12, 2012
Pours a orangish amber with a bit of an off white head that dissipates quickly but leaves some lace. Smell is earthy and malty. Taste is some malt but more earthy and piney notes with a decent bitterness on the end. Average to below average for the series.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheRatKing (53) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 16, 2012
Bottle to tulip. Pours a nice gold with about a finger’s worth of yellow-white head. Aroma of resiny hops as expected, with something sweet just beneath... something kinda of like cream cheese icing? I know that sounds weird, but that is what my brain is suggesting. It is a smell I enjoy. Flavour is unexpected; resin right off the starting line, sweet malt backing it. Grapefruit rind mingling with biscuit... strange but not at all unpleasant. Finish is somewhat bready. I can’t say I am that into Alley Kat’s Dragon series, but given that they are displaying just what different kinds of hops do to a beer, I can appreciate it.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 TipsyMcStager (1114) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 16, 2012
Pours a mild cloudy yellow with mid range head. Not a great aroma, more malty than hoppy. Flavour is fairly listless. Alcohol finish and not much hops for a double.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 9, 2012
Single bottle purchased from Kensington Wine Market in Calgary, AB on 05/26/2012. Colour: Dark gold with medium white creamy head. Nose: Hints of bubble gum and cotton candy, peppercorn, plain hand lotion. Interesting for sure. Taste: medium sweet, medium bitter, medium sour. The higher alcohol is noticeable with this one and it adds a tangy bang in the mouth. Sweet candy intermingles with angry astringent hops - producing a sour portion. Incredibly long finish full of dry-hopped tingle. Quite unique and enjoyable.

Pint
Complex malty caramel with overpowering strong alcohol aroma. Amber colour with no head. Very bitter flavour but not exciting. I've had a cask of this which was much better; this not so great.

I wasn’t as big a fan of this Dragon Series as the other. Floral and spicey with the piney hops asserting themselves. I don’t pick up as much of the malt base in this offering as others.

On draft at Beer Revolution. Orange on colour with medium carbonation. Malt and honey sweet aromas with a faint orange backdrop. Pale and caramel malt flavour, with dried (stale?) leafy hop and white grapefruit zest notes. Firm (verging on harsh) bitter finish. Not balanced in a way that I like. Average.

Very hoppy, very bitter, very tasty. I really enjoyed this one, but found that after two big bottles in one night I'd wake up with a bitter aftertaste in he morning (literally speaking only)
