Pours orangy with a good head, aroma of malt and grass and a bit floral. Really get the malt flavor, really enjoyed this beer from Ally Kat, maybe it’s time I went on another brewery tour to see what is new there.

Nice brown body and hints of nut on the nose. Okay sweet malt flavour. Mouthfeel could use a little more oomph. Not bad if you intend to drink litres and litres of it.

Appearance: clear deep gold with one fat finger of fluffy light tan head, good retention and spotty lacing. (3/5) Aroma: toasty caramel malt, light grass and malt. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, mild bitter. (7/10) Medium-light body, short duration finish. (4/5) Prost du Sack! Not much else to say than that. Pretty straight up Märzen. Nothing challenging, but could be pretty sessionable. (14/20)

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2012 Pours a clear reddish amber color with a big off white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a small ring. Smell is of biscuity vienna malts and some nutmeg. Taste is vienna malts and biscuit with a nice spicy finish.

Bottle. Medium orange-amber with a medium off-white head. No lace. Aroma is sweet toasty malts, a bit of metal. Nice sweet and toasty malt palate, medium bitterness to finish it off. Alright, I’ll drink this!

Draft - Grains, malt and biscuit on the nose. Clear gold with a minimal head. Tastes just like it smells with some hop bitterness and spice. I am not partial to this style but it was drinkable.

Found a 6-pack at a Liquor Depot in Calgary, AB on 09/17/2012. Colour: Perfect red/brown mix with even a touch of pink. Medium creamy white head. Nose: Strong medium malt with notes of egg, wood stain, burnt caramel and alcohol. Taste: Light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. This one is all robust raw malt, as it dominates the mouth and leaves it very dry and un-sweet. Notes of cooked vegetables fight through. Hearty and punch-packing but not my favorite.

Glad to see Alley Kat getting back to brewing some of their older seasonals. I paired this one with some sausage from Spolumbo’s- worked perfectly. The pour is a amber body with a thin off white head that dies quickly to nothing at all. There is a good amount of carbonation in the body. The nose is of a Munich and pilsner malt with a caramel biscuit sweetness. A light German hop with light grassiness. Sweet caramel and grass in the middle with a slightly bittered finish and crisp finish. Slightly sticky mouthfeel with a medium body. In general, this is a great brew that I wish Alley Kat would make every year.
