Pours orangy with a good head, aroma of malt and grass and a bit floral. Really get the malt flavor, really enjoyed this beer from Ally Kat, maybe it’s time I went on another brewery tour to see what is new there.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2012 Pours a clear reddish amber color with a big off white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a small ring. Smell is of biscuity vienna malts and some nutmeg. Taste is vienna malts and biscuit with a nice spicy finish.

Bottle. Medium orange-amber with a medium off-white head. No lace. Aroma is sweet toasty malts, a bit of metal. Nice sweet and toasty malt palate, medium bitterness to finish it off. Alright, I’ll drink this!

Draft - Grains, malt and biscuit on the nose. Clear gold with a minimal head. Tastes just like it smells with some hop bitterness and spice. I am not partial to this style but it was drinkable.

Found a 6-pack at a Liquor Depot in Calgary, AB on 09/17/2012. Colour: Perfect red/brown mix with even a touch of pink. Medium creamy white head. Nose: Strong medium malt with notes of egg, wood stain, burnt caramel and alcohol. Taste: Light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. This one is all robust raw malt, as it dominates the mouth and leaves it very dry and un-sweet. Notes of cooked vegetables fight through. Hearty and punch-packing but not my favorite.

Glad to see Alley Kat getting back to brewing some of their older seasonals. I paired this one with some sausage from Spolumbo’s- worked perfectly. The pour is a amber body with a thin off white head that dies quickly to nothing at all. There is a good amount of carbonation in the body. The nose is of a Munich and pilsner malt with a caramel biscuit sweetness. A light German hop with light grassiness. Sweet caramel and grass in the middle with a slightly bittered finish and crisp finish. Slightly sticky mouthfeel with a medium body. In general, this is a great brew that I wish Alley Kat would make every year.

New batch released for Autumn 2011. 341ml brown bottle. Bright orange colour, good thick whitish head. Good spotty lace. Malty nose, hints of bread and whole grains, light background malt sweetness. Flavour is bready and sweet up front, hoppy middle with grassy notes and moderate bitterness. Finishes with some grassy bitterness and some malt sweetness. Decent balance, pretty drinkable.

The beer is back in 2011. Shouldn’t be "retired" anymore. Pours a dark orange with a thin cap of tan head. Strong smell of sweet malt, caramel and toffee. Taste is somewhat sweet, but not overly sticky sweet. There is some nice hop balance that leave a slight bitter aftertaste.

A very unique tasting beer. A nice red amber color with an interesting spice flavour coming through the malt. A great beer brewed right in town.
