NOTE Replaced in December 2014 by Full Moon IPA. Please rate the correct version if you have it now.

We can’t promise inner peace, but our Full Moon pale ale definitely has a zen-like balance of smooth body and light carbonation.

Full Moon is a West Coast style pale ale that is both kettle hopped and dry hopped with Centennial and Cascades. The hops provide this ale with a nice citrus-like taste to balance out the caramel malts.

West Coast style pale ales are from a larger category of brews called American Pale Ale (APA). The APA is a cleaner and slightly hoppier version of British Pale Ales using North American hop varieties but everything else remains the same, right down to the balance between malts and hops to the medium body. With the additional hops APA tends to produce nice fruit-like flavours while balancing out the bitterness from the hops used in the process. 12.2°

Bottled. Sweet and highly hopped aroma. Classic copper pale ale colour with a reasonable white head. Highly hopped flavour with some biscuity notes. A underlying bitterness continues to the finish - a superb pale ale.

West coast pale ale....ummmm, not in this bottle. Tinges of citrus, pale, yeasty malts. Nothing very impressive, and quite boring. Run of the mill pale ale.

Yellow orange colour (copper) with a foamy white head. Transparent clarity. Aroma of yeast and hops. Taste is smooth with slightly bitter hoppy aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Reilly’s Taphouse, Itaewon. Clear copper. Fruity toffee throughout. Nothing special.

On tap at Sugarbowl. A decent APA but I guess I was a bit disappointed in this. Would have like a bit more assertiveness in the hops, but still a decent beverage. The first time I’ve had an Edmonton beer in Edmonton.

Pours a deep, clear copper. Minimal white head with lacing. Tastes of pale, citrus-ey hops with a great smooth flavor. Alley Kat is local for me and I love all of their offerings!

Pours a clear copper color with a white head and some lace. Smell is of caramel and a nice faint citrus maltiness. Taste is pale malts up front then some sweet caramel and a good mouthfull of citrus hops. Great American pale ale!

Thanks to Nic for bringing this back for me from Edmonton. Pours a clean darker amber colour with a frothy warm cap, great retention and thick foamy lace. Big cereal grain malt scent with hints of goat soap and hops. Medium-light mouthfeel, feeling like Perrier but without too much carbonation. Smooth cereal malt flavours with a nice light bitter hoppy finish. The grain in this one balances the grass notes in this one. Pretty easy to drink West Coast Pale Ale that still has a micro character.
