Olde Deuteronomy is a beer that is high in alcohol, full-bodied, and has a "chewy" maltiness. Because it improves with age, it is called a barley wine. Olde Deuteronomy is truly a beer to be shared with friends and should be sipped out of a brandy snifter. Each vintage will age and improve for several more years.
ABV varies from 10.2% to 11.5%. 26.4°

Originally reviewed Mar. 8, 2007: shazbot! first thing that comes to mind after tasting this. poured with a decent light tan head that vanished pretty quickly. leaves a skiff on the top. colour is a deep amber. smell boasts fruitiness, caramel and hops. once i tasted this, i was shell shocked. hahahaha. no seriously, i wasn't expecting the smoothness that it carries. can't taste the alcohol at all. nice and sweet malts. the hops don't jump out like you think they would after smelling it. great brew for the locals.

Great aroma of fruit and hop. Very appealing rich aroma straight from the pour. Lovely clear mahogany/amber colour with a thin disappointing lace. Thick syrup texture. Fruit hop, malt. Delicious fruit malt, whisky wood, earthy flavour. Very nice beer.

341 mL bottle at Volo. (2009 vintage). A lovely way to end the evening. Everything you want in a barleywine. Big malt, sweet candy-caramel, alcohol flavour and bitterness, and candied fruit. A lovely sipper.

Bottle at volo, 2009 vintage. Hazy caramel pour with an ample beige head. Aroma of thick caramel malts, and soapy, piney hops. Viscous mouthfeel, light carb, dry bitter finish. More caramel malts dominate, with some sweeter hops in the finish. The alcohol is well hidde. A nice sipper.

L’alcool me semble bien dissimulé, presque dangereux. En bouche, le liquide est moelleux avec sa très bonne corpulence. Le pétillement étonne par sa force. La finale est très douce, finement bourrative, assez longue et caressée par un alcool presque chaud.
