Olde Deuteronomy is a beer that is high in alcohol, full-bodied, and has a "chewy" maltiness. Because it improves with age, it is called a barley wine. Olde Deuteronomy is truly a beer to be shared with friends and should be sipped out of a brandy snifter. Each vintage will age and improve for several more years.
ABV varies from 10.2% to 11.5%

341 mL bottle at Volo. (2009 vintage). A lovely way to end the evening. Everything you want in a barleywine. Big malt, sweet candy-caramel, alcohol flavour and bitterness, and candied fruit. A lovely sipper.

Bottle at volo, 2009 vintage. Hazy caramel pour with an ample beige head. Aroma of thick caramel malts, and soapy, piney hops. Viscous mouthfeel, light carb, dry bitter finish. More caramel malts dominate, with some sweeter hops in the finish. The alcohol is well hidde. A nice sipper.

L’alcool me semble bien dissimulé, presque dangereux. En bouche, le liquide est moelleux avec sa très bonne corpulence. Le pétillement étonne par sa force. La finale est très douce, finement bourrative, assez longue et caressée par un alcool presque chaud.

341mL bottle poured a murky brownish color with very little head and lacing. Aromas of sweet malts and hops. Taste is quite sweet malt and some bitter hops in the finish. Low carbonation and medium to heavy body. This beer is a nice and smooth relatively easy drinking barley wine with alcohol well hidden.

Gift from Souther Johnny. Aroma of butter scotch, nuts and bread. An amberish / red pour with a mixed taste of, malt, bread, dark fruit, cherries, nuts and caramel. Interesting.

In short: A fun well balanced uber-sweet and uber-hoppy barley wine. Very Good brew.
How: Bottle 341ml. Exact age unknown. Probably around 1 year of age.
The look: Partly cloudy copped body topped by a medium beige head with good retention
In long: Nose of barley candy and various hard candies over a ton of leafy hops. Taste is a pleasant clash of sugary malts and assertive hopping. Baked raisin pie, brown sugar, thick toffee, luscious caramel, canned pineapples, butter and more… And lets not forget the hops. This barley wine really is mega-hoppy. Not to compare it to a Bigfoot because the hop profile is totally different than that of the Bigfoot. However, just like the Bigfoot, the hopping almost steels the show. A ton of leafy and resinous hops totally overwhelmed the sweet malts in the sticky bitter finale. Body it very full and very well carbonated. A distant cousin of the better known Pike Old Bawdy Barley Wine that I also love a lot. This is my rating number 4001. Sorry about the first 4000 ratings, I was drunk.

Single bottle purchased from Kensington Wine Market sometime in April 2011...in Calgary, AB. Colour: Reddish brown with minimal head on pour. Swirlingtirs up alot of head. Nose: Lots of sweet ripe fruit...like cherries and mushy raspberries. Sea air and red liqourice. Taste: Medium sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. Red currents, amaretto, and more liquorice to finish things of.

Dark reddish amber pour with no head. Taste is very sweet with brown sugar and huge maltiness. Long lasting finish with bitter hops coming through. Alcohol burn that diminishes as it warms up. Very good stuff.

Amber or ruby in colour. Tan head gone fast. Thin cap ring sticks around edges. No visible carbonation. Dark fruits, dark brown sugar, mild alcohol and mild hop. For some reason I also get a pear note which is quite interesting. Smells good. Dark fruit, candi sugar sweetness that doesn’t cloy. Finishes sweet. Apple, pear and dark breadiness come through too. Low carbonation. Thick and chewy. Full bodied, almost too full.
