2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Brewnoser (27) - Halifax, - OCT 1, 2009
Has some of that basic fermented honey that hints at being a real mead. Raspberry is just to artificial, and lacking in acidity to create a pleasurable beverage. Nice nose, that’s about it.

I couldn’t even finish this drink. There was something that just didn’t taste right about it. It was far too sweet for my liking and I had to choke down the gulps I managed.
Sorry Alley Kat...you can’t win ’em all.

Pours a clear gold color. Average aroma of raspberries and honey. The flavor has raspberries and honey, but it feels more like a soda than a mead....

Really quite unpleasant overall I’m afraid to say. Pours a rather sickly orange-pink colour. Aroma of cough syrup and honey with a fair deal of alcohol (my bottle is 7.0% rather than 6.7%). The taste is just cloyingly sweet and the raspberry tastes very artificial. The mead taste is definitely there though, giving it a bit of interest, and it leaves a much better aftertaste than I’d expect. It’s trying at best to be a two trick pony - the honey and the raspberry - and it doesn’t really succeed at either.

650ml brown bottle. Pours very light yellow, no head, faint haze. Aroma has some sweet honey, faint raspberry, white wine and tea. Sweet flavour, honey notes, but fairly bland. Finishes with some nice raspberry fruit flavour. Medium body, light carbonation.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2009 Ugh. Gonna be a pour out for sure. Two very small sips in and I already don’t want any more. The colour is some unknown metallic gold /pink, crystal clear, no head, some carbonation. There is alot of raspberry and honey aroma - very sweet. The aroma is not that bad. Bleck! This is pretty awful. Maybe I am just not a fan of meads, or maybe this one sucks balls. Taste is terrible. It’s watered down pop. It’s got a nasty alcohol taste that is way to forward. It’s..the hell with it - I’m not drinking any more of this spew. Gasoline in my mouth? Mouthfeel is 100% unpleasant. Thin, watery and gasoline. The slight sweetness is overrun by nothingness. Over carbonated. Horrid. It’s like I’ve got a shot of Vodka in a pail full of melted ice. It’s possible that I consumed less than 75ml. Hello basement toilet - goodbye Alley Kat abomination. Did they even taste this BEFORE they bottled it? How could they say "hey, this is exactly what we were after"? One of the worst things I’ve ever drank. Alley Kat should be embarrased. Also, one of the cheapest labels ever made. A dead ringer to cheap home made wine labels.

"I’ve told my self every time I drink a mead I’ll never do it again and this is no different tasted like crap and was a complete waste money. Pale rose to an orangey pink in color absolutely no cap but tons of carbonation bubbling up, looks exactly like sparkling peach juice don’t look like beer or mead but I think this is what Alley Kat was going for so what ever. Aroma is very sweet tons of honey and noticeable raspberry and something that smells like feet, it is not completely offensive but it’s ungood. I can’t believe the 6% alcohol is very noticeable and what the hell is the malt they used for this baggot mead made from popcorn?!?!?! This taste like popcorn the aftertaste taste like popcorn, buttery popcorn combined with honey and raspberry HOW! WHY! Ok I just called the girl friend over to taste I did tell her what I thought this tasted like and right after the first sip she said popcorn so its not just me. I’m not to sure what Ally Kat was going for on this product but I think they wanted to make a brew that was sweet and light for girls to slam back but ended up with a huge batch of popcorn juice. This was a huge waste of money and time there is no good reason to drink this. I SHALL NEVER BUY MEAD AGAIN. Review done while watching Mythbusters.

Dark peach colour with a touch of light pink. Nose is raspberries, chai, roses, chardonnay, and light hops. Heavy caramel right away, with cream soda and chewing gum. Where are the raspberries? The sweetness mutes out the malt and hops, but there is a pleasent cream feel. More like a soda pop with a deceiving 7% ABV.

[1300-20080418] 650mL bottle. Honeyed raspberry juice hints in the aroma with flowery sickly sweetness. Clear, pale pale yellow body with no head. Flowery honey bubblegum petal flavour with a sweet finish and a short aftertaste. Light-medium body is a bit bubbly. Super sweet, like chewing on a flavoured ice cube.
