A nice DIPA, understated in terms of bitterness impact, very though well malted down. A nice drinkability. Light orange body with generous off white head. Mildly orange hoppy aromas.orange citrus juiciness. Bomber thanks Presario.

Originally rated 09/08/12. Pours crystal clear amber color. has a head that has quickly vanished. Smell is quite bright but also musty. Theres a really bright almost citrusy smell up front, kind of like the aprikat slightly. Then theres also this smell that reminds me of a kind of like a musty cheese/dank grain. Its weird. Its not offensive necessarily just not my thing. Maybe an earthy hop, little spice, faint touch of citrus, but for something hopped purely with simcoe, sure can’t smell any pine. Actually the taste is pleasant. At first I get the lightest bit of that funk that I’m not crazy over, but its quickly replaced by a light caramel kind of taste and a floral hop. It’s a light citrus that brings on a strong earthy and spice like black pepper. That flavour sticks around a long while and out shines whatever the must was. It has decent amount of bitterness, not too much. Zero alcohol in the taste, but I think the mouthfeel is good for this beer.

Bomber thanks to savvy1982.
Appearance : Clear pale orange with small creamy head. Extensive lacing.
Aroma : Great malts with nice citrusy hops. Really nice fruits, nice resinous notes too.
Taste : Nice mangos with great malt. Fruity and malty. A little bit mineral on the finish.
Overall : Quite good. Too bad the finish is mineral... Really nice malt with great hop proflle. Not that bitter for 100 ibu.

Single bottle purchased from Co-op Wine & Spirits on 10/20/2011 in Calgary, AB. Colour: Gold with brown shading. Medium head. Nose: Shortbread, candy apple, grapefruit, perfume. Sweet and fruity! Taste: Medium sweet, medium bitter, medium-light sour. This one could pound out the hops but instead they are instead masked by the sweetness. Again lots of candied this and that in the mouth. Nothing sickly sweet but after reading the label I was expecting a brutal mouth-puckering hop journey....and it just wasn’t there.

Thanks to boney for this. Pours a clear orange golden with a lazy white top. Aroma is mild citrus hop. Taste is mild bitterness of citrus hop. Very nice tasting DIPA, hard to believe it’s 100 IBU. Seems pretty tame.

Bottle at home, shared with Cole. Pours crystal clear orange, thin white head, very fine lacing. Sharp looking brew! Nose is... unusual. Notes of Ponds cold cream, caramel, some light grapefruit, and tea. For a beer made with 100% Simcoe, this barely smells like grapefruit at all. Compare this to Heady Topper and well, there is no.comparison. Flavours are caramel, light spiciness, some grapefruit. This is really sub-par to me. Sorry Alley Kat, I really wanted to love this one, but I just can’t.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Cole (919) - , Alberta, CANADA - OCT 5, 2011
Pours light prince with A thin white head. Smells blindfold cream and medicine. Tastes as good as it smells. Terrible ipa. Alley kat drops the ball on another seasonal. At this point I am starting to think that alley kat sucks more than the oilers if that is possible.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 presario (4131) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 3, 2011
Bottle. First iPad rating. Nice white froth blankets the beer and the sides of the glass. Citrus aroma with traces of melon and tangerine. Too drinkable. I keep checking the ABV. Very nice toast and caramel table loaded with juicy citrus hops. Not a screamer but very nice to have around. Like a Lagunitas staple.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cirrhosis (931) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 27, 2011
Light coppery amber body complete with a nice 1" fluffy cap. Aroma seems very nice, bold peachy hops with a weird but nice tart element. also get hints of gum, and pine. the longer the beer sat the tartness faded and turned sweet, more caramel has also shown up. yummy flavour, smooth with a bitter finish. Great malt presence with massive west coast style hops, peach, pine, lemon. Some astringent starts to show up...Boooooo astringent!!! Over all very good effort but not the best by far!! good job Alley Kat!!!!!!!..... seem to high.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 patricks110 (901) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 19, 2011
Pour is a light golden orange and a light flufffy off white head around a finger in thickness.. Aroma is full on Simcoe hops with a overbearing resinous stink and slight tropical note. Very sweet middle with light biscuit malts and an overbearing resinous hop on the finish that slams the tastebuds. Simcoe is a bit of an unusual hop to choose for single hop beer but it works. The fruit is light and somewhat tropical with notes of apricot and mango. The finish is bitter with a dry mouthfeel and a mild pine cone herbal note. Overall, a very good IPA, but definately different from the norm.
